High Slots
6x 425mm + 2 Malkuth Heavy Missile Launchers
Mid Slots
1 L C5-L SB, 1 heat tac shield, 1 ballistic tac shield, and 1x Optical Tracking CPU
Lo Slots
3 named power diags, 2 cap power relays, 2 warp core stabs
I haven't been NPC hunting for ages and, strangely enough, I fear them a lot more than player-controlled opponents
Advice on this setup would be appreciated - the tac shields are specific to the common types of damage from the NPC's I'll be hunting.

If you are hunting alone or hunting high lvl npcs, i would use a mwd, so you can maintain opt range with your 425mm guns..

no comments, well one small one, get a tracking comp II, and personally I wouldn't leave home without a damage mod. 5x425 with damage mod > 6x 425, so I would throw out a 425 and a PDS throw a damage mod in there, and get something nice and shortrange in the open med slot. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

I won't be hunting alone or, at least, I'll avoid soloing BS spawns alone.
5x 425mm + 1x Medium Blatser + 2 Malkuth's with a tech II tracking cpu, and replace a power diag with a dmg mod. Hmmmmm.

Depends on the npc types .... agaiest the caldari npc i use 6x 425mm,2 xr-3200s (defenders)or smart bombs, large c5-l,em,thermal,kinetic,3 cap relays,1 dmg mod,2x power diags works pretty good. but i was hittin the npc at around 30km. If you hide behind the roids use 7x 425mm :-D Hope that helps and good luck.

I hunt angels, which do petty damage at range (just some heavy missiles), but hit too damn hard up close.
So what i use is:
6x 425 rails 2x standard limos launchers
1x sensor booster 1x C5-L medium shieldbooster 1x shield boost amp. 1x whatever you want to use (tac shield, tracking comp, AB, MWD ??)
3x power diag 2x damage mod 2x tracking mod
You can prolly fit an mwd for that extra medslot, which i cant because im still training elcetronics 5 and weapons upgrades 5.
I warp in at a bookmark about 90KM's away and start pounidng them while they close in on me. Works fine when doing large cruiser spawns solo, BS spawns are too heavy on your defense to use this setup tho.

Use lasers for NPC hunting. I think a mixture of dual heavies and Megabeams is pretty good. You can keep up a good recharge rate and you still got a nice range.
I heard from pilots that they did not get out of the belt even with 2 warp core stabilizers. Dunno for sure though.

I won't be too bothered about using ammo - got bp's and I'll just recycle unwanted loot to make the L ammo I need.

I do the same, works well. Ammo is cheap anyway.
Anchoring a large sec can (which fits in the mega's cargo hold with ammo in it does it for me whne i visit systems without a station.

No need for an MWD, just put iron in the rails, and sit 120km away pecking at the rats - they're all dead before they get within 60km of ya :)

which is what i do, altho not from 120km anymore. That takes too damn long. 80KM is fine against cruisers as well, and even 150km will not save you from a BS NPC's cruise missile stream.
The bad thing about the mega is that tanking it is so damn hard. It makes it nearly impossible to solo BS NPC's, where a tempest actually can pull that off more easily.

Agreed,
this very morning i ran into a spawn of 4 centurions (angels, 75K cruiser), two 750K warlords and one seraphim (1mill arch angel).
I thought, what the heck i'll refit to use a few cruises, 6 425 rails and do as much tanking as ican with htat damage dealing setup. I proceeded to sit at 100KM and hit em with iridium ammo (100KM optimal on my setup).
no use. within a minute the cruise missile stream from those three BS's had me warping out of there. (i used the exact same setup marcus posted btw).
After refitting to accomodate a large shieldbooster and hardener instead of the medium one, but losing one 425 rail in the process as well as messing up mt lows i still couldnt get past one of the warlords' shield without having to run to mommy for shieldrecharging.
Armor tanking could be the solution but im a bit afraid to try that one out versus a 3 BS spawn.

i like the set-up but i would replace the Tracking Mod with a 100mn afterburner cause if your warping into the belts at 60km most likely the rats will be heading "straight" for u not zig zagging, everything else i basically use in my NPC set-up ------------------------------------------------ A Plague is comming.... |

"2 warp core stabs" dont bother if the npc use missles.... The Missles bump u so much u are unable to warp.

Try this:
5x425 mm's 2x250mm proto's 1xHeavy launcher
XL-C5L Thermal hardner EM or Kinetic hardner depending on rat Shield amp
6 caprelays-1 dmg mod ( sometimes I don't put a dmg mod)
Until they refix the missile bouncing crap I'll use this though
5x425 3x"vehemence" smartbombs (lower cpu) for the missile spam (I'm hunting guristas)
XL C5L therm/kin/em hardners
caprelays and dmg mod (or again no dmg mod)
