So...I don't even know where to begin.
Maybe with Colin Farrell, who is so puny looking I'm amazed he even got through the golden arches of Hollywood in the first place - now he's reprising a role originally played by a 6'2", muscle-bound Austrian, with a voice that fish can hear 500 fathoms down.
Maybe I'll fire a few bullets across the bow of Kate Beckinsale, as I dread to think what god forsaken accent the director is going to force out of her for the role of Lori, previously played by Sharon Stone. Oh, the director is married to her. Great...I bet that was a sticky casting couch.
I don't mind Len Wisemen really, he's okay. No great complaints about his directorial style, considering the dreadful material he had to work with. Oh wait...he wrote the story for Underwuld.
Bill Nighy as Kuato...'open your mind'....
At least Jessica Biel is in it, playing Melina. Hopefully the scene where Lori gets shot by Quaid will be replaced by Lori and Melina cat-fighting. No 'consider that a divorce' line from Colin Farrell and something to numb the pain at that point from what will be most likely a truly vomit-inducing film.
Bryan Cranston as Cohaagen. Not bad...a reliably reliable actor, the kind of guy that turns up, does the job, and leaves without leaving any resonance behind, very similar to the original Cohaagen, Ronny Cox.
Ethan Hawke is in it - no idea what role he's going to play, but probably the "I work for the bad guy but feel bad about it, so I'm gonna help you, to save my soul" type-of-character, as that's the kind of clich+¬'d moping ***** that guy has played for years now - ever since he got wrinkles the size of the grand canyon.
Special FX are gonna be a combination of The Senate VFX (Captain America) and Double Negative (Inception) so I guess it's gonna be hard for them screw up an early 90's sci-fi movie.
I just wish they would make something new, because it's not like Philip K **** only wrote this, 'The Martian Chronicles', 'Do Andriod's dream of electric sheep?' and 'A Scanner Darkly' - we wrote over 40 books and it'd be a shame not to explore all of the concepts in his stories.
So, another 90's rehash for fuckin' money, because the studio owner has got 4 kids to feed? Or the potential for a genuinely awesome pop-corn movie?
