Well i was watching the Church vs... Someone tournament in Day 2 on the replay, and I saw the rook taking damage from the missiles and the commentators saying "the rook has 4 launchers so he can do a bit of damage as well"
Now i wonder, would it be good/decent to just load up purely defensive missiles to counter the cerberus missile spam/Take a good hit out of their potential DPS? Or is it better to just throw 4 Heavy launchers on and go pewpew?

As i understand it Defender missiles are to unreliable to significantly reduce the incoming missile DPS. They also tend to go for the closest missile, so fitting 4 launchers with defenders means a lot of waster missiles unless you're trying to stop torpedoes.
But what perhaps would be an option is to fit the E-war cruisers with Assault launchers and load them with precision lights maybe? That should be able to take apart any interceptor the opposing team throws towards them.

There was one of the fights, the first day I think, where a Rook was sitting nice and cozy some 30km behind his mates spamming defenders .. looked like they mitigated quite a lot of damage from the heavy missile spam coming his way.
Using assault launchers is perfect - defenders to survive the initial barrage with option to switch to precision lights later if a new target is called. No idea if it has any merit in the wild though.

Edited by: ElCoCo on 03/03/2008 15:30:31 Rocket launchers with defenders are very helpful on some (small/medium) ships that don't realy offer any DPS/logistics to help the group with.
I'd choose an arbitrator over a vexor for example because it has, 1 more medslot, bigger dronebay AND that missile slot to fit a rocket launcher in, even if the vexor has more drone bandwidth for extra dps. |

I suggest you and also to eve tv commentators to watch that fight again and you will get all the answears you need.
But to start with, right click and do show info on a rook,to see how many missile slots it has. Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Kreul Intentions ([email protected]) |
