Edited by: Vasile Ion on 04/03/2008 19:31:59 Libertina, it's definetly an exploit if you use trial accounts. However using one own's alt is probably ok, but you lose a bit of sec rating each time.

Why the crap would it be an exploit to spawn CONCORD under any circumstances? --------------- FMI is recruiting!

Simple. Each time you attack your hulk pilot, you lose security. After so many times, you can't enter high-sec. You either stop there, or go rat to bring the security back up, or recycle the character - the latter of which is the exploit.

Reading comprehension ftw then. It's the act of recycling alts that would be the 'sploit, rather than having CONCORD spawn...
I think a little clarity is called for in posts like this so people don't go about spreading misinformation and dissuading others from using potentially ship-saving tactics.
Not that I mind the Goonies putting a Jihad on rockmunchers the world over. Adds a bit o' flavour to the game. --------------- FMI is recruiting!

Why does everyone just whine about this? All you have to do is learn to watch local, and set every member corp of goonswarm to -10 standings. When you see a red minus enter local, select your station and hit dock. problem solved. |

or just set the whole Alliance -10 =P
And, it's really not that simple. since if you have to keep docking up to avoid goons, what will that do to your productivity?
And seriously, you wouldn't be able to have anyone else set red, since Goons would be the only ones you need to worry about, and you might wind up docking several times for a red who cant attack you since he's not a suicide goon.

Thats if you mine alone. and if your in a hulk alone, your probably hauling with the hulk every time it gets full, so its not that much of a hit to productivity. little isk-flow is better than none at all... if you want the security to maximize your productivity, join a 0.0 alliance and mine in large, reasonably secure groups. ::insert witty signature here:: |

As for the guy who posted about economics. Sorry bud, you've got it slightly wrong. Granted, the supply and demand dictate the price range of products, but what you are forgetting, is that once the prices are so high, that supply is _greater_ than the demand, then prices _have_ to drop again otherwise produce won't sell.
If you rule out the fact that more miners would be likely to mine more ore as the mineralprices rise there is no reason why the price would fall again. Given that producers act as rational beings they will not lower their price to sell more products if they have to sell them at a loss. Without externalies supply wouldn't be greater than the demand but the two curves would stabilize at the market equalibrium.

As for your rhetory using 3m frigates, only an idiot would buy a tech 1 frigate for that amount!
Then the quantity produced on that market would just be enough to supply the idiots.

(If you're following the property market in the UK just now, you'll find that prices are actually dropping slightly just in most area's for this reason.. Prices are too high, no one can a: afford them, or b: wants to pay over the odds for something)
You'll have to take the market-structure into account. In a market as the one in Eve with a nearly perfect competitive character, producers can not lower the prices (when they are at the market equalibrium) under their marginal cost of producing the products.

Because it is an unintended use of game mechanics. Concord should appear when an actual crime has taken place. Faking such a crime so that Concord appear and protect you from a real crime is not what CCP envisaged, as far as I know, so such a tactic might be considered an exploit.

Originally by: sov68n Wrong. Consider the raw minerals of EVE like the petroleum of America. Drive the price up, the economy goes down.
But consider how EvE isn't like America: as long as I get richer then screw those other losers.

Set goons to +5 then - that's a different colour.
As for productivity: sure, you'll mine less ore, but prices will be higher.
