KSEA players often seek out PVP in a game, but they are looking to socialize with and form alliances with other players who are interested in doing the same. They often seek out guilds or clans that organize formal PVP events, or work on group strategies and tactics.
Breakdown: Achiever 26.67%, Explorer 33.33%, Killer 93.33%, Socializer 46.67%

ASEK
ASEK players like to pit themselves against the grand-challenges of a virtual world. They see grouping and guilds/clans not only as an enjoyable aspect of the social environment, but also as a way to achieve goals that cannot be achieved as an individual.
Breakdown: Achiever 53.33%, Explorer 53.33%, Killer 40.00%, Socializer 53.33%
From the description one would think ASEK = Blob, guess I'm in the wrong line of work.

Based on your answers you are ...
KEAS
KEAS players are often individuals who like to feel immersed in a virtual worlds and see themselves as a great villain or crusader within that world. They seek out challenges against other players, but they are going to find all the areas of that world. They'll often know about the best hiding places and ambush points.
Breakdown: Achiever 40.00%, Explorer 60.00%, Killer 73.33%, Socializer 26.67%
...works for me. While I'm a vicious pirate, with all the e-peen and chest beating that comes with the territory, I also *roleplay* a vicious pirate...an easy role, after all.

Based on your answers you are ...
SKEA
SKEA players enjoy teamwork and cooperation, but feel that the main challenges of a virtual world come from the other players rather than the environment. They enjoy forming groups and alliances that will pit themselves against other players--and they gain the most satisfaction when they defeat organized groups of other players. When they aren't playing against other players, they enjoy all of the social aspects of the game.
Breakdown: Achiever 0.00%, Explorer 60.00%, Killer 66.67%, Socializer 73.33%
Well, that seems about right :) I usually do missions when not at war as I am mostly combat-oriented, but I love the game the most when hunting others players, especially in a team. At any time I'm usually chatting away at several channels at once and I love to gather knowledge about the game itself. The Achiever 0.00% is a tad strange as I do like to improve my char.

I have freinds in Eve but by far the main reason I play is for the fighting. Aside from having plenty of money I'm not very interested in PvE type rewards or achievements, preferring to understand game mechanics especially in terms of how they can be applied to shooting people. The money I want not as a reward in itself, but to spend on killing people.
I'm nice in RL though.

AKES
players like to be the best-of-the-best at everything the game has to offer. They like to be high on the ladders of whatever metrics the game uses, including PVP. They like the best gear, the most power, and they love being the 'first' at something. Their prowess in PVP is generally supported by a large degree of understanding and posession of the best equipment and skills

Kase here,,
KASE players tends to enjoy the PVP aspect most of all, but also likes to pit themself against all the challenges of the PVE environment as well--although the latter is often a means to an end. This type of player will often enjoy PVP that focuses on their skill as an individual contributor (duels, and so forth) more than team-based PVP.
Breakdown: Achiever 60.00%, Explorer 33.33%, Killer 73.33%, Socializer 33.33%

But it's a little difficult because the only 2 MMOs I play are Eve, where I essentially just play a solo trader, and Planetside where I'm a high-ranking player in the largest outfit (read corp) for my empire. In PS I'm definatley more KSAE. In Eve, I'm more AESK... totally different!
Also, this test is aimed more at MMORPGs so some of the questions make even less sense.

EKSA players might be descibed as living by slogan: see the world, meet interesting people...and kill them. Immersion within the world is important to these players, because they love finding new things to explore--but they also enjoy the thrill of the hunt and finding other players within the world to fight.
Breakdown: Achiever 13.33%, Explorer 93.33%, Killer 66.67%, Socializer 26.67%
Interesting for sure :) I guess my Achiever score is to blame for my wallet being so broke.

Hehe guess it knows me prity well, thou it all so said less than 4% of eve'rs play this way , but then again I guess it depends upon which way you make the question fit the way you play eve as to what your answer come out like.
AEKS
AEKS players are interested in the player-versus-environment aspect of the game more than anything else. They are often soloists who want to achieve and see what the world has to offer. Often, they find groups cumbersome and PVP to be more an annoyance than a feature.

I guess I'm as likely to kill somebody as talk to them? Or kill them after talking with them? Or talk to them while killing them? It's so confusing!
So am I really ESKA, or EKSA?
Either way, now I know why I'm always poor... ;)
Interesting test, but I have to agree with Tarminic that the questions are a bit too 2-dimensional.

CCP might find this thread handy :)
Hrm, may not be a bad idea, for them to make their own little test, see what things people like to do, what they don't, might help them gauge their market a bit.
Though, keep in mind that the results in this thread are skewed towards the type of people who post in forums.
Good point. Maybe CCP could do an in game test, ask people to take it once every three or four months. They could use that data to see what's going on in the game from a macro level. Questions like what do you do mostly, where do you spend most of your time, etc.
One of the comments from fanfest, if I remember correctly, was a genuine surprise about the population distribution. Eve is so large and varied, that I suspect CCP isn't always aware of what is going on in their game. The CSM is partly aimed at helping bridge this gap, a survey could help in this regard. Most successful companies have customer satisfaction surveys, this would be in the same vein.

yup, this test works pretty well
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
