I'm sure that many of you have read THIS before.
For those that haven't, I highly recommend reading it. It might clarify quite a bit about how Eve works. (BTW, I think Eve is a Type 1 game according to the 'stable types' listed near the end).
I'm mainly an Explorer myself. I love knowing how the game works, what's out there, what's going on, how various game elements interact. I don't really fret getting killed, as it's just part of the game, and it's interesting watching theory meet practice.
So, what kind of player are you?
TL;DR version: Four types of players. Achievers want bigger numbers, Explorers want to know how everything works, Socializers want to talk, and Killers want people to suffer. Lot of stuff in the article about how these types interact, and what it does to a game.

I would have to say that I fall somewhere around the middle. I think that this kind of analysis needs some type of research and not a half hearted literature review.
The write up fails as it has to with a scientific write up, not that it was written badly. Actually it was written quite well. But things like the following can not be overlooked. MUD is not even defined in the abstract. This write up contributes little to the science of personality studies. There is a wall of text without a singel quote. I could go on and on, but it is not necessary.
All in all this is nothing more then speculation on personality types as it has to do with styles of game play. Considering it was even stated that most players will at somepoint use all types of play methods, a basic literature review is almost pointless.
But then again that is my opinion. It has been awhile since social science research was part of my continuous reading, plus I am used to reading medical research. So my opinions may be jadded.
