Tranquility will undergo an extended downtime on Tuesday, 11 March. The start time is 0200 GMT and the length of the downtime is expected to be fourteen hours. During this time, a patch will be applied to Trinity consisting of fixes and improvements.
Patch Notes will be made available over the weekend. Updates to the notes will be added as more items are cleared through the Quality Assurance process. These updates will be highlighted with green text. Please keep all patch discussion in this forum thread.
Please note: Training a long learning duration skill ending after the scheduled return to service is recommended.

Thanks.. yea I know but that answer didn't make sense.
I hardly think they prep'ed the OP (5 lines of txt) beforehand.. and then publish when ready.. really?
Since 'forever' I have used the forum index page to see if new topics are posted, and since they brought out the information portal I used the index page to see if there is anything of interest. Since the new year it's been hit and miss, and erratic, from my point of view anyway.
I was just curious.
Looking forward to the patch notes, and to a lesser extent patch day
Basically, if a thread is posted in a forum it will show up as the most recent post in that forum. If we post it in another forum and then move it, the thread will not show up. The reason for this is that it was the way the forums were programmed to work.
So, we have our own secret forum you can't see. For convenience, we post the thread there at first. That way we can prepare the pot in advance and tweak it and everything. This is great if I for example want Saint or Navigator or someone else to make a post, but I need it to become public when they're not there.
Either way, this is how it works and that is why we do things this way. I don't know if that makes sense to you but it does to me.

Originally by: Farrellus Cameron Why is the patch time completely different then normal?
Originally by: Mc Leech Thats it? This is the legendary boost patch we waited 3 months for? A boost to couple amarr ships and a couple caldari?
The original schedule called for a release in early Feb but there were issues in the localisation process that we had to sort out and then there was the the Alliance Tournament in early Mar. So 11 Mar it is. We used the extra time well for additional bug fixes.
Underneath the hood in EVE Online: Trinity 1.1 are massive database changes that will allow for more rapid and frequent delivery of new content in the future, such as new missions. Therefore we are doing an off-line backup of the database, like we do when deploying expansion, and that explains the start time.

We will be doing database backup, database update, server code deployment, database maintenance and database DT jobs from 02:00 until 11:45 GMT.

We always quote time in GMT. Personally, I use this web site to convert.

There is a setting to disable them...
Originally by: Vivian Mengloi The boot.ini file in the client root directory has been renamed to start.ini
Yes, we're deleting boot.ini, this time on purpose.
Originally by: Epitrope Can we get an updated database export, too? Pretty please?
We're hoping to be able to do a database export soon.

Ok, what has happened is that we've taken down the patch notes. We will go over every single note, make sure it is coming in Trinity 1.1 and then we'll put it all back up again. Unfortunately that means we might not be able to get the list up until tomorrow, Monday.

Can we please get specifics on the ECM Burst change before that? It has the potential of costing a lot of people a lot of money.
The blueprint job times were too low being equivalent to normal modules and have been changed to capital class module production and research job times.

Is it possible for existing research jobs to be amended for this? For example, a ME research job that originally took 80 days and is currently 50% done. Is there any way to make this finish at the new, earlier time?
The job completion time is calculated when the job is installed so current jobs will not be altered after the patch.

I'm afraid not. Only corpses created after the patch will be affected.

Originally by: DmitryEKT No, it means they're already going full speed when they undock
The old behaviour was: Ship undocks at 700 m/s and 0¦, then slows down to 0 m/s (and stops).
The new behaviour will be: Ship undocks at 700 m/s and at a random angle inside a 15¦ cone, then slows down to its maximum speed (and maintains that speed).
The new behaviour is actually very similar to the original behaviour (the 15¦ cone is new). It was changed to having the ships stop because of tutorial issues. Since then the first tutorial has changed and since the reason no longer applies then we are going back to the original undocking behaviour. We believe it may help in alleviating congestion at busy stations.

What if my Notebook's native resolution is 800x480 and it canĘt go higher?
The previous check was to exclude full screen resolutions with either width < 1024 or height < 600, now it's 1024 and 768; so you must have been using windowed mode?

No I don't use windowed mode. Just a clean Classic EVE Install on an ASUS EeePC.
800x480 is recognized as the only fullscreen resolution which is very fine - no other resolutions can be choosen.
/me reads the code...
The resolution filtering is as follows: We start with the full list of available resolutions. Then all resolutions where either the width < 1024 or the height < 768 (was 600, that is the change made) are removed. (Also, all resolution where there is a refresh rate mismatch are removed.)
Finally the current desktop resolution is added back if it was removed in the previous filtering.
That's why your 800 x 480 desktop resolution shows up in the current client and it will continue to be available, as far as I can tell. I tested this on my laptop just now to make sure; 800 x 600 did not show up when my desktop was at 1680 x 1050 but was included when I dropped my desktop to 800 x 600.
I'll have this item in the release notes updated.
