This is why you eject at 10-30% structure when you know your going down for sure, and that the enemys next volley of focused fire will blow you up.
tbh, ive only been podded twice, when i DIDNT eject early, have never had a ship stolen, and have gotten many podkills for this exact reason.
Still wouldnt hurt to fix it I guess... :-/ My views and opinions are my own, not my corp or alliances.

well your ship blowing up ---> to pod is a session change if im not mistaken? The lag when this happens can be pretty horrendous and take more than a few seconds, which isnt that handy as a ceptor will lock the pod in less than 2.

I suggest that people that are experiencing this, please bug report it and make sure you add information in what case it happens. During fleet battles, during 1vs1, during missions? In that case what mission, what ships, what drones. Also please let us know your hardware specs and make sure to add a dxdiag file and logserver logs.
This will help us track down the issue and get it fixed.
Rigth as your ship is blowing up it ALWAYS happens under ANY circumstances, it has happened on all 3 pc's I have. It is WORSE with I forget which patch.
It is also especially noticeable if you initiate warp almost with like 2% hull and die while youre initiating, as your ship blows up you can warp away, its actually itnerestin because ive died at gates while warping to planets while my wreck is at the planet my pod was at te gate 0o.
One time I even managed to warp the ship (super laggy circujmstances like 200 in local and 300 next system over)to a planet and have it survive with 0% hull and half the modules blown. (only to find out an hour later it didnt survive =(

That's Desync. Which is neither lag nor stutter. Op's post is about stutter, ie: Display freezing solid for so long that there is no chance to warp away in pod.
Not to say they aren't related in some way in this situation though.

I had this happen to me the other day, got killed by a vaga pirate, I was ratting in a pretty quiet low-sec system. When I got to about 5% structure my client just kind of paused, and stayed paused for about 30 seconds before I crashed the client, when I log back in I'm back in station
btw I'm running the premium client on Vista.

It is kinda bizarre that a wreck can sometimes be upwards of 8km from where the explosion happened. Before wrecks it made sense, since it was cargo containers. I explained it by saying that the ship is launching what it can out as it's about to explode, thus the container comes a bit before the explosion.
Also, the ship -> pod session change is annoying. As well as the lag, it seems to disable your ability to click for about 2 seconds after the "entering ship" bar goes away.
Both that and the lag make it really hard to get the pod out without jamming warp like an insane monkey, which only adds to the lag, meaning you can't tell if you made it or not until you see your pod in the warp tunnel or the interior of a station. -----sig-starts-here------

Yep. I don't lose ships often but basically these days you can't do anything to save your pod. If the ship is gone so is the pod.
A friend recently lost his cyno covops to a myrmidon that jumped into system. One myrmidon vs one covops and he couldn't load the grid in his pod in time to warp off before the battlecruiser killed the pod...

why can't it just launch your pod before calculating all that other stuff?
1) ship losing control 2) pod appears with full client control 3) ship finally pops and spawns wreck etc
or.. much like with NPC ships, the "exploding" ship could simply be invulnerable until all the maths are done and THEN spawn the pod and wreck?
so many times in missions i kill a rat and know it's dead well before the wreck appears since it un-targets but icon is still there.
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
It would be great to have as much pod info as possible pre-cached client side, since the few seconds you get before the pod is locked are really your only hope to escape (what else are you going to do, impulse out of scram range?).
I can't really endorse undocking-like invulnerability, as that would make it impossible to pin down a pod in lowsec (short of comedy bombageddons and such), but anything to make pod loading times faster is a good thing. Losing pods in lowsec should come down to your incompetence or their lock speed, not client lag when your ship blows up. -------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft.
