So I am kicking around the idea of beginning the long training toward either Cruiser LVL 5 or BC LVL 5. I am wondering what would be more fun to fly. My Character is Caldari with a little over 8mil skills, focused on missiles for damage. I like running missions, ratting, and want to get into more PVP. I have been using a T2 Pass. rigged Drake doing LVL 4s so far.
As my character is Caldari, my question might best be answered by ppl flying Caldari ships, although not required.
If you trained a ship skill LVL 5, What did you train first? Have you trained both Cruiser lvl5, as well as BC lvl5, or even BS lvl5?
Side note..I have trained Frig lvl 5, and my Harpy is working on a Tec 2 Dust Invunelrability Field building up on it in a hanger somewhere. Now I know that the Harpy is somewhat of a gimmped chicken, (no offence to you Harpy, Blarpy pilots, my hats off to you if you have fun with it.)
I just want to fly something that can do what I do now, only better, and be a platform for PVP as well..
What have you found?

If you are mostly doing PVE and want to basically max that out, i would go BC V. command ships can solo tank every lvl 4 solo with skills and good fittings.
However if you way to do PVP, cruiser V is deffinatly the way you want to go. HAC/HIC/recon all require it. command ships arnt that useful (the caldari ones at least) in pvp unless you got major amounts of sp and isk. I would say go for the cruiser V because it will allow you to be more versitile and have more fun in pvp. :)

BC V doesn't give you any additional ships on its on. It is required for Command ships, which also need Cruiser V. So by getting cruiser V you unlock Recons, Hacs, Logistics, HICs, and can get BC V later to extend into commandships.

as has been stated you cant do anything with battlecruiser 5 cept fly battlecruisers unless you have cruiser 5 already, so train cruiser 5 first get some fun ships to fly while you wait the next 6 months specing in command ships

Remember Battlecruiser 5 means you can have fun with all races battle cruisers
I's recomend getting cruiser lvl 5 but not caldari because their T2 really do not shine like amarr or minmatar. With minmatar cruiser 5 you get access to the vagabond a fun hac, the scimitar which is the best tackler in the game. The recon ships are also good. Hurricane is a fun ship, and the sleipnir is a fun command ship.
Amarr has ok command ships and harbinger can be fun. the cruiser 5 gets sac and zealot both fun ships. You get the curse and pilgrim but those are not really what they used to be so meh. The guardian is a good logistics ship though.

Cruiser 5 first, then BC 5. THEN BS 5. I have all 3

cruiser 5 is better, you can always fit a fleet caracal and do insane DPS for a low cost... i am still training cruiser 5... and i don't like hacs :P
i like the idea of recon, and logistics
caldari eagle is a bad ship in general, caracal and cerberus is the way to go, it shoudl be able to catch fast movers with tech 2 assault missiles, 10 of them are a real might
