Quote: Edited by: Alynthir on 09/04/2004 06:47:14 I got an Amaar Crusader the other day and was not impressed. I had an optical tracker in mids and two named traking comps in lows and I still had a hard time hitting anything. At the speeds interceptors are capable of, or even normal frigates for that matter, turrets seem to only hit when the dice get lucky.
If anyone has had a good experience with Amarr interceptors, please relate it here because mine is now sitting in the garage while I train up Caldari Frig 5 to get a Crow.
As to the rest, I still think the Rifter is the best WTFPWN ship in the game. I've managed to down three interceptors (one with this char, two with an alt) while flying a Rifter. Kestrels are usually nothing more than an annoyance.
Flynn, I can't explain how you won that fight other than maybe the other pilot's were DL **** or something while running EVE in windowed mode? Anyway, congrats.
Crusader is crap. Too low CPU to mount 4 guns, unless you go for small pulses, which are pretty useless in MY experience. Extra base speed is negated by increased mass. My malediction is exactly as fast as my Crusader with identixal mods. Sold the Crusader.
I still maintain that the Malediction is the best Amarr interceptor. It suffers from a lack of a missile launcher, however, I've found a particular use for it and have dueled other frigs in it.
There is NO other frigate I'd rather face than a Kestrel firing ANY sort of missiles. I don't konw why these guys didn't simply outrun your cruise missiles. They should have been able to do so QUITE easily. I can only attribute it to inexperience. They either DIDN'T recognize that a Kestrel would only fire missiles (I've been hit by NPC missiles because of the stupid missile icon disappearing unless you hold the ALT key a few patches ago), or the didn't konw that orbit doesn't work correctly right now. As mentioned, manually orbitting and/or strafing passes work QUITE well.
The only frigate that I've found to be a 'challenge' is a rifter. NOT because of the launchers, but because of the very good range of 280's and because projectiles can fire so far into their falloff range effectively.
That being said, I haven't met a rifter who could take me down. I've met some I've had to work against, but that's it.
I happen to think frigates SHOULD be able to fire cruises, makes the kestrel, rifter and that other minmatar frigate useful. However, if you removed the capability, wouldnt' bother me in the least.
Malediction looks SUPER freaking cool too.
