While trying (and failing miserably) to do a Rokh sniper set-up, I was looking a Javelin rounds. They seem like the worst type of ammo known to man. Sort range, still not a good DPS compared to other races, and it really cuts off your speed. _____________________________ "So what do you need, besides a miracle?"

Javelin is the best thng , since sliced bread. FYI things have been pretty bad since they sliced bread.Javelin is pretty useless, avoid it till after they give it a buff , in 2-3 years. Most T2 ammo is pretty bad compared to faction ammo. Use Faction since it is about 15% better then normal ammo, with out a drawback.

You can switch to faction HAMs if you are close enough for 1/4 more damage than faction heavies. And I believe they are cheaper. -- Gradient forum |

True. But those are not really Javelins anymore. --- Don't put your trust in revolutions. They always come around again. That's why they're called revolutions. People die, and nothing changes. |

I hav come to the conclusion that T2 ammo is mostly useless. ure there are a few gems that work but for the most part it's just expensive trash --Bird of Prey: Forum God

Javelin's are great because they give a short ranged weapon much greater versatility. Taking a weapon that does decent dps inside a 20km window and giving it the option to hit from 80km is a good design for a tech 2 ammo imo.

Caldari dont use javelin because they got bonused HML and SML. They just stick the long range bays because they are much better overall.
The only ones stuck with rockets and HAMLs are amarr khanid. Those are the only ones that use javelins also. -------------------------------------- [Video]Skirmish Warfare |

You were going to use missiles on a sniper rokh?

T2 short-range gun ammo is useless unless you're in a smaller ship shooting at a larger target at point-blank range and even then the best faction ammo is probably a better choice.
Same thing applies to the high-damage missiles for the most part.
Also, why on Earth would CCP name two completely different types of T2 Ammo 'Javelin'? -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

Find a way to switch my HAM launchers to heavy on the fly, and you'll have a point. --------------

Null with large neutrons works wonders for blasters. They'll touch someone at 30+km, while holding good dps and no tracking penalties.
Void is situational, at the very best, and i'd rather use faction AM for the most part

Yeah, only T2 ammo I actually like (for hybrids at least) is Spike and Null. Maybe void, since it's just as powerful as AM, and doesn't have as big a range negative modifier. _____________________________ "So what do you need, besides a miracle?"

Ability to switch to Rage/Faction when at close range for more DPS?
Without Javelin, HAMs would be strictly limited range-wise. Rage HAM only gets something like 14km whereas Jav can go over 70.
It's kindof like the difference between using Scorch+Pulse on a Zealot over Beam+Faction Ammo, I guess ...

yeah, cause the thread didn't get completely derailed into a general t2 ammo discussion.

Edited by: AKULA UrQuan on 16/03/2008 05:38:55 good idea to carry small ammounts of Javelin ammo (three reloads max) for large T2 turrets. It'll come in handy for those times your trying to take out that capital ship since every bit of DPS counts here. Since this target is really big the tracking penility isn't a problem.
For everything else that's close go AM.
