Ok, i was gona give you a big long speach here but i can't be bothered, what i have to say can be told in a "short and sweet" fashion. So here goes.
Left eve for reasons i wont go into now Whent to (dare i say it) WoW Rolled a warlock and lvl'd him to 70 (bored the pants of me doing that) Made lvl 70 Started full on battleground, honour grinding Got 3 items of epic pvp gear Got bored Closed WoW account Re-opened EvE account Here i am now (I might add i was in EvE for nigh on 2 years when i left and in WoW for...lets say, 6 months)
The short and tall of this story is (and im not just being a creep) EvE is an amazing game and i missed it massively all the time i was playing WoW (again i didn't come back earlier due to life issues).
I see alot of people complain about this and that in EvE (and the arguments they put forward can be good ones, not putting anyone down)but it's the best MMO (IMHO) out thier.
Nice one CCP, like the subject says, i'll never leave you again . amazing game

Your are not alone. A lot of people left to look @ other games or just to take a break. Got a little different perspective and ran back to EVE.
By the way gratz for being brave enough to admit you went to WOW.

Go back to WoW
Still it is nice to sometimes quit and sample other MMOs for a while even if all it does is make the same old game feel new and better when you come back.

I dabbled a bit in other MMO's, but Eve is my first MMO that I actually committed to. Thanks to all of you guys that go try something else then come back and tell me how much it sucks - without you I'd probably be wasting my money on lots of other games.

Edited by: Bronson Hughes on 11/03/2008 20:55:25 I started off playing MMOs not too long after WoW came out (say what you will about WoW, I'm a huge fan of Blizzard's RTSs). After a while, a friend of mine got me playing EvE too. For my first year or so in EvE, I did double duty playing both on and off.
This greatly distressed my wife, who was also my WoW guild master.
Recently, my corp has gotten into a 0.0 Alliance and I've actually experienced what life in 0.0 is like. Unlike our previous attempts to set up camp on our own, life in 0.0 now is fun and, heaven forbid, profitable. I haven't run a mission in weeks and the only time I spend in HiSec is to go shopping for hard-to-find items or to train faster on a 'good implant' clone if I'm going to be offline for a few days. I've written off WoW completley and play nothing but EvE.
Needless to say, this has distressed my wife to no end. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

Jesus christ, thats nearly my lifestory too, leveled a warlock to 70 as well, did pvp, got bored and now im back into Eve. I love this game, its the closest ive been to a digital working world in any game, coming to warfare, economy, 'pvp', anything.

I use legions of non-mmo games to stop me getting bored. I always play EVE, but an hour or two in a couple of different games keeps ya from getting sick of the same old stuff. ----

Simular story here, also the community of EVE awesome compared to... well WOW for instance, although I have red some disturbing posts on these forums today .
But to stay on topic, the biggest online anti-climax ever was turning lvl 70 in WOW... pffff. ___________________

Hey, I played WOW and it was fun for a while but the level grind got annoying. I think the skill system is fantastic and that is what keeps me coming back. I don't have to grind for XP which eventually turns me off in any game i played before. Not only that, MMOs like WOW lock you into one type of character (i.e. Worlock or Priest). I love Eve because even though i am Caldari, i can fly any ship and do whatever i want in the game.
To my wife's chagrin, i can see that this game is going to hold on to me for far longer than the others.

I took time off Eve to try other MMOs and, without a doubt, they all have the same problem - LEVELS!
After a while, in every game, I found I wasn't having fun any more, I was just constantly checking the XP bar to see when I'd get my next level. Ugh.
Getting back to Eve was such a relief.
The only other MMOs I ever really enjoyed were Ultima Online (no levels) and early SWG (no levels) so I now know for certain that whatever fantasmagorical spiffy new MMO game comes along, if it has LEVELS I'm not even trying it!

EvE like WoW or any other MMO for that matter is not really about the game. It;s about the people you play with. I cancelled my EvE account about 6 months ago because none of my friends really liked it. Although I am very passionate about EvE, the complexity the political game and the actual players. It takes a while to grasp the whole thing. The learning curve can be intimidating.
My WoW guild has some great people in it and that what makes the game for me. I finally have a non gimp character and I'm happy with it.
My previous corp also had some great people in it. But i could not live in 0.0. I just did not have the ISK and skills needed to live out there. Here's hoping this time it works out better.
