Hey. Does anyone fly this ship out there? I understand it is a bit expensive for a frigate, but I know alot of you are rich as, well, rich. What do you think it's role is. It's not really as fast as a interceptor, and it has a bigger sig radius. However, it does get that MWD bonus. So, does anyone have any thoughts on how to fit this bad boy, and how to fly it?
Also, why is it so much more expensive than the other faction frigs? Or is it not and I've been dumb. Thanks alot in advance. --

It has a pretty light frame, the mass is relatively small so you will get quite a bit out of your MWD although its speed is somewhat lacking. Overdrives will be quite important.
You're probably better off tackling with this in a fleet cos the only thing its split weapon system will guarantee is a lack in the damage department.

That is true, I did forget about the fact that it as alot less mass. But why does this thing sell for so much? 60 million seems like a lot, even if it is faction. Because like you said, this thing packs little to no punch. What kinds of speeds have people attained with t2/faction mwd's? --

All pirate ships sell for quite a bit more than their navy equivalents, mainly due to availability. Pirate ships are only available to those who have accesss to 0.0 space.

I use mine as a 0.0 shuttle. Some combination of warp core stabs and nanos, 1mn mwd II, proto cloak, maybe an ecm burst. No single ship will kill you, either a super large gang, well setup gatecamp, or an unlucky combination of ceptors and rapiers will ruin your day.

Even then it's difficult. I've seen tons of faction BS and cruiser spawns, but never a faction frigate spawn, which I'm assuming frigate BPCs come from. I think mainly they come from exploration (lol) and complexes in lowsec.
And yeah, CCP started out EVE with some dumb ideas about split-slot configurations (viz. other such frigates, like the Merlin, Tristan, etc.). The Daredevil would benefit greatly from one of those setups like the new Sansha ships have (like the Succubus). Maybe CCP will get around to doing that someday.

Why not just use a vigil?

The Dramiel (the other Angel faction frig) is fairly often dropped (as a blueprint) from the 2/10 complexes in Minmatar high-sec. Other pirate frigates can be dropped from commander spawns (e.g. the Dark Blood frigate spawn that gave me a Cruor blueprint) in the asteroid belts. This is in highsec. Spend enough time ratting or running complexes and you'll stumble across some BPCs eventually.
For some reason the Daredevil blueprint is more rare than the Dramiel one (though I understand they both suck about equally) so it is more valuable.

not really any special reason. i really just bought it to show off i guess, not like its much to show off. Going into pvp i'd take a more useful ship, so running erands in 0.0 is all its good for. Of course, im not going to jump an often camped system with it.

I flew this ship for awhile. As with all Faction ships it performs and fits better with skills. I used blasters and a rocket launcher. You actually get a nice cap bonus if you fit a MWD. Essentially you want to MWD to target and then orbit. If you get webbed you best MWD out of range. It packs a nice punch with blasters. Not really a PVP ship unless you are in a gang and don't mind being called primary. Has a rather large sig radius compared to other ships of it's size.

I have max fitting skills and honestly it has great difficulty fitting rails and standard missiles in addition to MWD and shield tank. I don't recommend close range weapons for frigates as entering web range almost guarantees your death.

I know I asked for advice and all, but please don't make it seem like "MWD out of range" works if you are webbed. In a ship this expensive getting into web range is effin suicide. Look at the Taranis... --

Frig sized ships have their roles in fleets, but if you want to do small gang or solo work you really should just use something bigger like a HAC/BC/BS.
If you asked me there is little to no difference between effectiveness of a faction frig or a regular frig. Its really just for a little bit of fun.
