Edited by: Mitchello on 11/04/2004 10:24:26 punishment for murder = banishment it seems.
Not as harsh as some USA states like Texas...Death penalty...lightest sentance you can get in USA if you are convicted of murder is 7 years i believe and that is in new york.
This game is very unrealistic, merely being pushed away from empire space is a slap on the wrist for murder...let alone Mass Murder I.E. more than -2.0
maybe like have different reactions in different empires? i'm sure the Amarr are harsher than Gallente. And maybe if you kill an amarr you don't get a bad reaction in like Minmatar space?
Still it is only a game...I'm not really decided on the issue and was hopeing for a more indepth explination.

The old system (+0.1 a day when negative) was SO SO SO SO SO much better, you could NOT exploit this, you simply had to wait it out. It was perfect, why CCP changed this, I do not understand....
Not being a Pirate at all, must agree with you.
The whole system is bugged

Zap has got a good point. (Wow, I agreed with Zap on something, I think hell froze over for a minute.)
Personally, I'm not all for the orginal gain 1.0 Sec a day just killing a few pirates like it was in the first month, but there should be some security regeneration like there was originally for not doing any bad deeds. I'd like to be gaining my security again.
Bring it back CCP!!!

I agree with Zap. This thing should be fixed. Why not the next patch? Wake up CCP and do this. Like many other things, this is one of the things that should work to make the game whole and functioning like it should. This should be one of the primary things to fix.

Edited by: Luc Guerrier on 11/04/2004 12:00:56 They just need to raise the SL gain you get from killing NPCs. Problem fixed.
This can't be more than changing a few values in a few tables. But as always it takes CCP months because these guys rather spend their time in some icelandic bar buying ****tails off our money

Totally agree with Lord Zap, this is a silly situation and need fixing. And before people jump on the "hey you pirate griefer suck it up" bandwagon please take a long hard look at what DB Preacher says ... this affects the good guys (and gals) too.
Case in point, I've been playing Eve for a long time and have done a fair number of missions and npc kills and such and the highest my rating ever reached was 2.1. In two incidents (one accidental, one purposeful destruction of a ship alone) its dropped a full point. At the current rate of sec level gain that can *never* realistically be replaced.
These changes and problems effect all players potentially, not just "pirates" and pvp combat fans.
Please consider the effects of your words before posting knee jerk ill-considered opinions.
The hotfix should be to return to .1 per day recovery of neg sec (-10 to 0 in hundred days) - that is "three months" for a complete rehabilitation and that is not "small beer" or "minor hassle" in the context of a game. (this needs doing now)
But clearly the sec level gain for doing missions and killing npcs needs to be increased to allow somthing like that timescale for an average amount of work and fluctuations above and below for varient effort.
Love and peace (and please think before posting)

That is simply not true.

Agree with the old 0.1 solution to be brought back.
To be honest I really don't see how such a simple change (my educated guess is a trigger in the database) can be dragged for so long.

I've been playing just over a month now and after 1 week or so of shooting random things finding out what im not supposed to shoot, I realised that there was something called a security rating. it was -0.140 or something, and for over 3 weeks now I've been trying to get it up, and now its at -0.102 or something so it hasn't changed a huge amount! But I personally can't believe how long its going to take me to get up to 0.0.
I've got afriend who plays this, and he's been playing roughly the same amount of time as me, and he's almost got a 1.0 sec rating, he's not as adventuristic as me or stupid heh, but argh its so frustrating, I'm also stuck on lvl1 agents, and ive done over 200 missions with this single agent!
I've been getting my fast talk up now, its up to lvl3 so that has helped it speed it up ALOT but its still taking a long time!!

Edited by: Kiros Seagill on 11/04/2004 17:43:37 HAH, I doubt strongly this is a problem for the good guys too. No ones security status drops below -5 when you "protect a corpmate" or "help a citizen in need." This problem is most likely only relavent to pirates. The negative security status is a punishment seriously. What the hell is the point of it if you are allowed to slaughter people and then come watltzing back into empire space like nothing happened. I am a pirate and I have no problem with it. CCP keep it the way it is. You kill people you get punished! If you don't want your access to empire space restricted then don't pod the people! I'm pretty sure podding isn't required when you are "protecting a corpmate." So please stop whining you did the crime, now do the time! |

Kiros, the problem doesnt begin at -5.0....its begins at -2.0 when you cant enter in any 1.0's and than eventually you cant enter anything above .4 . And an accidental podding or two will get you to about -2.5 which means you cant enter anything above .8 without getting ganked. The problem is absolutely no way to get back the sec status if you wanted to. There is no way to change....once you go down the path right now there is no way of getting back, which really isnt the way it was supposed to be. Yes, you take the penalty but there should be a reasonable way to get back to normal, which is lacking right now.

Kiros Seagill,
You are fighting a corp war and accidently hit a non-corp ally with friendly fire from cruise (sec drops)
You are at an event and fire missiles into the fray against the bad guys and accidently whack somebody's ship (sec drops)
You take exception to an ore thief and decide to blast his (or her) thorax to bits (sec drops)
A friend of yours is targeted and jammed by pirates in .4 roid field. They have your ally helpless and are slowly blasting him to bits with torps. Do you stand there like an idiot or do you wade in and help? (choose the latter argument and guess what?) - yep, your sec drops.
These are not just problems that affect pirates. They affect every that fights in Eve for whatever reason.
