Wouldn't it be cool to have that kind of ship following your hunting fleet?
Just take a basic Indy as basis, increase its speed, make a cargo area of 600-1000 and add some more powergrid to it.
Maybe add one none turret weapon slot, so they could atleast help party members with shield or energy transfers.
Those kind of ships would not compete with regular Indys as they have much smaller cargo, but would be a nice member in a hunting party to haul loot.

hmm my indi has about 7k cargo goes 400m/s and i usually scoop up the loot for my corpmates, when they hunt, coz i'm faster and more manouverable then their cruisers :D
if i want to be really fast my last speed record was 805m/s (without mwd) with a 3400 cargo space.
So i don't think we need another class of indi. I also don't want more offensive weapons its fine just as it is.

I agree there should not be a militry indy, but what about a industrial mining ship. Sure this is an industrial job. Give an Indy 2 turret points but make it so they cant mount 2 weapons, only 2 mining lasers.

1. Industrial ships are not for combat! 2. Industrila ships are not for mining! ... 3. Industrial ships are for transporting goods, minerals, and loot. _______________________________________________ If ifs and ands were pots and pans, I would grow mushrooms in my pants. |

Actually the Industrial was designed afaik with the usage of a refining module in mind so it becomes not only hauler but in fact an "industrial ship" which can process ore on the spot. Making it a even more mus have for every serious mining action.

I do think the industrials should have more armor and shields Pirate actions leave them weak and unable to flee most of the time. If you added medium slots and low could load it with armor make them harder to kill

In fact I would say that the only change needed to the current indy's is the removal of their ablity's to use and mining lasers.
Currently in 1.0 areas you can find vast fleets of indy's mining away while the player is doing other things. The largest fleet I've seen was 10 hoarders just working away without any security cover provided by the corp. One thing the game designers seem to have missed is the fact that many players are connected by ADSL, so incur no connection costs for doing this type of mining.
