Edited by: Zanpt on 14/03/2008 09:03:42 Yes, I'm having whiteout. Before this patch I was able to run 7-8 Eve windows in Classic with no cache and some other settings turned down. Since the patch I have barely been able to run 5-6 Eves. One or two of the Eve windows will cycle in and out of whiteout. When in whiteout the FPS is awful and there is significant lag in everything from getting the window to take focus and come to the front to clicking and right clicking items and getting the expected action.
The whiteout seems associated with extreme, excessive CPU usage. CPU usage seems to have risen with this patch.
I can't run all the chars I'd like to, so the ones I can't run will expire and not be reactivated until somewhere down the road when CCP straightens this stuff out.

I saw this last night as well. I run two Premium clients on two monitors. I logged one of them off to relog in as a different account and the splash screen background was whited out, and game performance was very slow.
After I dropped both clients and allowed time for my OS to drop all the related threads I was able to log in as normal, with no white-out.
Bug report it if I were you.

I am having this same problem, As is 6 others of my corp.
When the whiteout happens, and you open eve again, the background is different, like darker is the best way to describe it,
I run dual monitor but this never used to be a problem up until recently, CCP please fix this i want to run more than 3-4 accounts

Exactly the same issue. Can no longer run two accounts when before I could run three on my Core2Duo computer. Now when I try and logon a second account all I see is a white-out. Sometimes I can't even login the second account as it stalls on the authenticating part.
I suspect huge memory leaks or something that is making the CPU use waaay more processing power than before because when running Eve my computer is simply slower than before. ---- Disco Biscuits, Baby!

I'm having the same problem when running two clients using the Classic content. One of the clients will "whiteout" and fps on both drops to 2/3 fps. I am not, however, always affected by this. I don't seem to be affected as often when missioning, it appears to happen more when both accounts are travelling.
I can only get both to work again at a decent fps by closing down both clients. If I just close the client that has gone whiteout the fps on the other seems to go back to normal, but when logging the second client back in it is instant whiteout if I haven't first closed both.
I did see this occasionally pre-patch when using the premium content (this is why I stuck with Classic), but never with the classic.

What's going on in the background is that the "clouds" from the usual image are missing. Same thing with the character screen.
I also have this bug. It occasionally happened before the patch, now it's happening all the time, making it a major annoyance when playing with 2 accounts. I've taken to calling it WSoD (White Screen of Death).

Edited by: Dog Solitude on 20/03/2008 19:45:19 Same issue here though I am hoping a computer upgrade will help. I don't find it happens every time, and usually only happens after a longer duration of 2 clients being open.
I also found that flipping up to fullscreen and back down to window (or vice versa) would reset the screen at first. I'm not finding this to help anymore. If I am in window mode and swap to fullscreen, it won't even maximize anymore but flash a couple times and resume the white-lag-screen of doom.
I tried changing all sorts of the in-game graphics settings to no avail.

I'm getting the same issue, but for me it's when I'm using 4 accounts. Running 3 has been fine (so far) but now whenever I load a 4th client, it will quickly get a whiteout + 2/3 fps. It doesn't matter which graphics settings I use it stays the same. If i reboot the broken client, it comes back exactly the same. However if I close a non-whited client, the broken one suddenly changes back to display normally, of course if I load up the account that just closed - it will have the whiteout instead. Unlike some here though, everything else works... The whiteout client is slow and painful to look at, but my other 3 clients run are the same speed & windows responds happily.
For those wondering what we're talking about, here's a screenie of whitey in all it's glory...

I'd be interested in seeing some computer specs and other information from you guys who run more than 2 EVE clients and are having this "whiteout" issue.
Can you folks edit your posts, or add new posts to include the following info please?
Operating System Processor Memory amount DirectX version Graphics card
How many EVE clients do you use regularly What resolution you usually use (list for each client) Windowed/Fullscreen: Windowed (list for each client) Number of monitors
example:
OS: Windows Vista Business CPU: AMD 64 X2 5200 2.6GHz Memory: 3070 MB DirectX version: 10 Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT
No. of EVE clients I usually run: 5-6 Resolution I usually use: 1024 x 768 (all 6) Windowed/Fullscreen: Windowed (all 6) No. of monitors: 3

As a side point, someone in another thread a month or two ago came up with a fix for when the whiteout thing happens, which is to change the res of the account that is still OK (Ive only ever done it running 2 clients) - and that makes the whiteouted client fine instantly. Same problems here. I found switching from full windowed to full screen then back sometimes fixes it for a while. Also jumping gates and undocking seem to cause it the most.

Handy thing to do when in the middle of a L4 mission and the WSoD appears... :)
A lot of things used to help, sometimes just hitting esc twice (to bring up the options menu, then making it go away) on the non-bugged client used to help, but the WSoD got a lot worse after the patch, and even changing resolution doesn't usually work anymore.

Edited by: NightmareX on 06/04/2008 16:18:57 About the white background. I have been testing alot of settings with my graphic card with different drivers to my Radeon X1900XT card.
The thing i have found out is that i got that white background thing from Catalyst 7.4 driver. On Catalyst 7.3, i could run everything on max in the Catalyst Control Center. I had no problems at all there.
But when i installed Catalyst 7.4, i started to get those white backgrounds that make my fps go down to 5 fps. And that was only when i had Anti-Aliasing on max. And my Catalyst A.I. was also on standard, not Advanced. So i didn't upgrade my driver at all.
So then we are here today, and was thinking, lets try out the Catalyst 8.3 driver. Because there is soooooooo many game fixes from the 7.3 driver to the 8.3 driver, so it's a must to install it. But i still got the same white background thing when i had everything on max settings.
So i did try every graphic settings, and i did try every level on every settings. So i found out this.
I could run everything on max except for Anti-Aliasing. I had to set it at 4x and had to set the Catalyst A.I. to Standard, then i could use EVE with Anti-Aliasing and all of the other nice graphic settings in EVE.
So i'm not sure if it's a problem with the driver or if CCP haven't integrated something to EVE that may have been changed in the newer drivers.

I assume this means it has been taken seriously. Can I see more feedback somewhere?
