Dear Eve community.
I'd like to offer you a unique opportunity which, I think you'll agree, is far too good an opportunity to miss. We see a lot of smacktalk and chestbeating on these forums.
 But how do you know if your forum warfare is actually hitting the mark?
What this community needs, more than anything else, is some independent, impartial research into public opinion on the major alliances. Yes, that's exactly what it needs. That's where Skullduggery Inc comes in.
I propose founding a monthly benchmarking survey, stopping and surveying a random cross-section of the community from key systems throughout Eve. Research would primarily be of a quantitative nature, to allow easy tracking from month to month, but some qualitative elements could also be includes.
So why would that help you?
I'm proposing setting up the first truly reliable analysis of public perceptions in the Eve community. Want to know if your latest threadnought hit the mark? That's where I come in. Want to see if your alliance's CAOD gag helped increase public opinion? That's where I come in.
Research would be benchmarked on a monthly basis, so you could track the public's view of your alliance over time, to help you optimise your public relations strategy.
That sounds great, Windy, What do you need from me?
You'll be surprised how little it will cost to buy in to this truly independent research. In fact, I'm offering my services for free!!
All I requires is donations to the value of 1bn isk. That would allow me to conduct 1000 surveys, each one incentivised by 1m isk.

Actually thought it was a good idea up to where you said it was free, then wanted a billion isk in donations, nice effort that one though, might fool as many people as the rapier/reaper contracts XD...
But i suppose if people voted how they rate each alliance you could get a prespective of respect shown.. not a bad idea, if you find a real way to implement it.

You should invest in this endeavor! General Windypops is an alt of integrity and vision. Honestly, he has built up heaps of credibility with his constant spamming of the CAOD. What would take 30 goons to do, he does himself with style, panache, and a deep understanding of english grammar. His spelling? Spot on. Diction? I don't know. But I do know that he is the man for this job and this job of taking your isk is very important. Though I have no honor, I can recognize it in another, and that honorific pod person is General Windypops.
Let him be the professional unbiased pollster that we need. All this takes is a small donation from you. Please, for what amounts to only a few isk a day, you can help a poor out of work General Windypops.

You need to preface your surverys with a screening question to be sure you get people who actually pay attention and don't just waste your time. Something like "Do you follow the Great War." or "Do you read CAOD at all?"

Depends if you only care what COAD readers think. Most forward thinking Public Relations experts are also interested in 'control' groups - people who haven't necessarily been exposed to propaganda messages.

However, may I suggest that the answers you receive would be more useful put into context. You should ask a couple of context questions at the beginning.
e.g.

1. How would you define your playstyle?
[ ] pvp
[ ] trader
[ ] mission runner
[ ] mixed playstyle
[ ] other
--------------------
2. How long have you been playing EVE?
--------------------
Then you could continue with your questions about their preferences over one party or another.
These two questions would enable the survey to show some correlation between types of players and their political views and thus would be more useful.
And as somebody else already mentioned, you should do it for free if you are genuinely serious about this.
Ofc this whole thread could be an elaborate troll......

alt posts remind me of a video i made way back... but on topic.. i would say surveying the general population means little they don't keep informed, you need targeted survey, of a slice of each side, to see if the enemy's propaganda is effecting the target audience.

tbh this forum is tame compared to a year ago. I think ppl wised up to the fact that you can do yourself as much damage with a forum post than through an actual war in-game. But meh, I guess it won't stop ppl like you trying to involve themselves.

I still think this is a great idea. I think it's important to have a collated viewpoint of the general populace of Eve especially when it comes to propaganda. I wish there was a way for Windy to profit from the idea but the chances are it would probably need to be privately funded and done secretly.
Myadra brings up a great point but I think such a focus would be a different tack altogether and no less valid than one of the general populace.
You could do a series where you do a seperate poll for each faction or even sub faction, then have another one based on regional hubs.
For example, What does Jita think?, What does Rens think? What does Dodixie think and so on. Then you could have someone head to capital systems to do voxpops on the people there.
You could then collate all of the data seperately and together to get a full picture of the whole. You could keep this going on a bi-annual basis too. Maybe you should try and get ISD funding for such a great idea.

GW, part of the problem here is while you claim to have some insight into independent, impartial research, obviously you haven't had the most basic instruction in polling. For your data to accurately reflect the Eve community, your sample has to be representative of the Eve community.
You don't leave Empire, so the vast majority of those you poll will be empire pilots, while a great deal of the forum warfare involves 0.0 space.
Once again, you have let your fingers, and thirst for attention outweigh any semblance of reason or rationale. Next time, try five minutes of research before you post for ten minutes.

Nobody is winning, everyone else is loosing.
COAD is a joke and has been for a while now. Most of the threads are "i herd dis" but offer nothing interesting or usefull. The rest, nomatter what they're about end up full of BoB/Goons/Pandemic arguing semantics. There is never anything interesting to read, which is perhaps why it's taken so long to notice this thread.
A sizable chunk of people i know don't even read COAD anymore and they've all headed to SHC because its moderated properly. Either you offer usefull information or an opinion without smack or you get moderated, keep it up and you get kicked from the forum.
