I suggest a heatexchanger, cooled with cold water from the sea ( you are near water IIRC ) After having Icelands warm water heat most houses, this should be a hard trick to pull off.

Approximately 120 people on this floor, all running PC's with 24" TFT's attached. In some cases two TFT's. Some people also have a laptop running parallel. The heat output from all these items and bodies is considerable.
I'm going to start bringing shorts to work.

Wait, 5 degrees celsius is hot? (I checked if you meant Fahrenheit, but apparently 5F is -15C). Is Iceland really so cold you consider 5C "hot" or do you guys use some other exotic temperature measurement? ***************************** Everything is possible for him who believes. Edited by: Isiskhan on 18/03/2008 16:04:44 5 degrees? Down here in the south we keep finding it mystifying how civilization could have ever developed on any latitude where temperatures fall regularly below 10.
Anyway, what we do around here is this: if it feels too hot to be working, that probably means you shouldn't be working... so it sounds like you've got a siesta time situation in your hands. Come back to work later in the evening. Or ma±ana, that works too, it always does.
Failing that, taking an extended break to a terrace in a shade where the breeze blows, in the fine company of some slabs of jamon de pata negra, olives, and a chilled beer or five never hurt anyone.

Work with most/all windows closed for 2 months. It will be hard at first, but you'll get used to it and won't be bothered by heat anymore. Except sweating, but you can't do much about it... ------------------------------------------

Drink plenty of water. Getting dehydrated makes you hotter and tireder.
Erect some sort of sunshade to cut down direct sunlight heating?

They still put out the same amount of heat unless you run the hot coolant to an external exchanger, but that would require pipes everywhere...
My advice would be to drink water and suck it up. When it gets above 40C inside, maybe more measures need to be taken. At least you're not in the sunlight in the middle of a clay field.

Put an icecream machine/freezer with ice in every office/room(Will release cool air).
Fridge with beer and coke in all offices.
Make a central cooling system for all computers that runs on liquid nitrogen, cools down nicely . Make some nice "smoke" like stuff on the floor. If you can manage to make it smoke enough, put lasers in the offices too, and you will get HELL of a lightshow!
Hire small pretty boys to stand around and blow fresh air in your face.
Find a big icecube(BIG!!!), and put it on top of the building, and hope that the minmatar construction can hold it in place. Should cool down nicely.
Strap liquid nitrogen bars onto the chairs.

Erm... You do know that fridges/freezers give off HOT air right? How do you think they make the inside cooler? Unless you mean to have them with the door open, which isn't any better as then the net effect would then be zero.
Having cold drinks/ice creams would be great, but the fridges/freezers will actually make the room hotter. - Originally by: Tzar'rim So, the Ibis is now 20% better? Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuun!!!

Of course, just gotta ventilate the part, which gets hot. But also, the content is really more important.

Anyways, you could try putting fans in some windows as 'exhaust' fans to move air out, then put fans in windows elsewhere to pull air in. It should help circulate the air somewhat in the building which should cool it down at least a little bit.

Yes, we have considered this. However the office windows are rather like windows in 70's British office buildings: 3 square metres of glass with a thin slot at the top you can open out by about 5 inches. Not really conducive to ventilation, although putting some small fans in there to blow air out or in is certainly an option. I might just MacGuyver something together out of old dryer hose, duct tape and some cut-price table fans.

You could try asking some of the AC technicians/cooling companies here in Arizona how they set up the cooling systems in various office buildings. In most of the places I've worked, when it's been 115 degrees Farenheit outside, it's been pretty frigid inside at something like 65 degrees (they like to keep the place cool to discourage sleeping on the job). -Wrayeth n00b Extraordinaire "Look, pa! Can someone please answer in which units the "5 degrees" was given? Because on the six of the temperature scales I've managed to find with my google-fu, 5 degrees ranges from just above absolute zero to pretty damn cold. Was that a typo, sarcasm, or is there really some mystical Icelandic temperature scale we're not aware of? ***************************** Everything is possible for him who believes.
