Edited by: Crimsonjade on 18/03/2008 22:16:17 odd as it sounds i'd suggest a very heated spicy menu. Blazing hot wing, or some Thai food or chinese.
Mexican food is great for beating the heat.
useful knowledge
hope that gives ya some idea.
edit: could always drink very cold beer and then go log on eve and fly around in jovian ships. blowing up stations in Jita. but im a wild and crazy guy
double edit as 5 Celsius = 41 Fahrenheit, but all those computers raise the inside temperature waaaaay up . maybe CCP movie night and watch Lambada! get your groove on

Celsius. Instead of googling temperature scales, you could have just looked up today's weather forecast for Iceland.

Top floor of building - open a door or three. First floor/basement - open a door. make sure there's at least 1 unobstructed path from the two points. Instant cool-down. _______________________________

Yes, we have considered this. However the office windows are rather like windows in 70's British office buildings: 3 square metres of glass with a thin slot at the top you can open out by about 5 inches. Not really conducive to ventilation, although putting some small fans in there to blow air out or in is certainly an option. I might just MacGuyver something together out of old dryer hose, duct tape and some cut-price table fans.

or order this which i found looking for the picture, and it seems like the best of both worlds. DISCLAIMER: you may need to import several thousand units of the electrocution fan to buy from that site.

Swamp coolers increase humidity, though, which is a bad thing in a high-tech environment. -Wrayeth n00b Extraordinaire "Look, pa! I just contributed absolutely nothing to this thread!" |

I`ll gladly trade some of the cold weather we are having in the Netherlands with your "warm" and sunny weather
Some snow fell down 30 mins ago, after being absent most of the winter

The sun today especially in Edinburgh (where I am) - so hot!

Its celsius of course. All civilized countries use celsius. I heard of some backward countries in the far west that still use fahrenheit.

First of all train Thermodynamics to 5. And how about a nice Ice-mining-session? A few units of Glacial Mass should be enough to rebuild the whole CCP building out of delicious ice (and allows for awesome design). And feel free to announce the location so I can provide some "security" (for the ice, not the miners)
It was a beautiful, sunny spring-like day here in middle Germany until it started to snow a little a few hours ago. Now it's cold again. Guess that's where your weather went - feel free to come over to pick it up and haul it back to Iceland :3
To avoid the investment in a new AC-system better go for a jacuzzi or a sauna. Provides a great recreational place to hang out for stressed GMs and Devs alike and when you come out of it everything outside feels rather cool. (Just don't take your laptops in there, they might not like it )
If all else fails get someone skilled to mix a few*****tails. Raises the mood and helps to relax. I can recommend a Blackbeard's Ghost: * 1 oz. Rum, coconut * 1 oz. Rum, dark * 1 oz. Rum, light * 1 oz. Grapefruit Juice * 1 oz. Orange Juice * 1 oz. Syrup, mango * 1/4 oz. Molasses
Or an Old Pirate: * 1 oz. Irish Cream (Bailey's) * 1 1/2 oz. Vodka * 1 oz. Coconut Milk (Malibu) * 1/2 oz. Orange Juice * 1/2 oz. Pineapple Juice * 1/2 oz. Mango

Every guy (or gal for that matter) who is setting next to a computer has to have at least one 2-liter of Mountain Dew or Mellow Yellow right there with them and a big 'ole cup of ice to poor said drink into.

Important question: can you even buy AC in Iceland? I can just imagine the conversation you get when ordering it ... and it involves a salesman laughing out loud in the buyer's face.

I don't really understand why this thread continued past my original perfect solution?
Anyway, the obvious alternative would be for CCP to do some enviromental tolerance training. In Disney World. Florida. 2 Weeks. All expenses paid.
Then, when you come back you won't be feeling the heat.
I'm I good or what?

Well in Texas we have several ways of beating the heat.
Throw a BBQ with plenty of beers
Throw a BBQ with plenty of beers and a pool
Go see a movie
Sit in the AC and watch a football(or soccer) game.
Find the lowest room in the building and lay on the floor.Works best when AC is on, but can also be used in emergencies when the AC breaks.
Ive survived a 114 degree summer with my AC broken this way. Hope it helps you.
Cheers.

Fridge with beer and coke in all offices.
Make a central cooling system for all computers that runs on liquid nitrogen, cools down nicely . Make some nice "smoke" like stuff on the floor. If you can manage to make it smoke enough, put lasers in the offices too, and you will get HELL of a lightshow!
Hire small pretty boys to stand around and blow fresh air in your face.
Find a big icecube(BIG!!!), and put it on top of the building, and hope that the minmatar construction can hold it in place. Should cool down nicely.
Strap liquid nitrogen bars onto the chairs.
You pretty much described what it was like when I was at DreamWorks Animation.
