I have been lurking on the forums since my EvE birth 11 days ago. I am always drawn to combat so I was weighing my options between Pirate hunter, merc or pirate. After reading this forum almost exclusively after about 2 days of browing through the other areas I know what my destiny is in EvE.
The general consensus seemed to be just get your a$$ out there and pick some fights and I was itching for some Non-NPC action so... I loaded my Incursus with some lvl 1 hybrids, AB, shield regenerator thing and..... wait for it.... a ship scanner... yeah... With my 1337 gear and an over confident attitude in tow I headed for low-sec. I was all like "hey I am fricking bad-A in counter-strike and I can pwn nubs like wow in age of empires 2... this EvE thing is gonna be cake." I jump through a gate into a .4 system and am like "I should go check out an aster...." and boom 2 ships warp jam, web and lock me. About 10 seconds later I get to see what my pod looks like, not bad I'm sexy in podform too. Luckily I warped away before they could ransom isk from my helpless nub-pod. Wouldn't have mattered anyway.... i be broke....
Pirates: "hey turd give us 10 mil or we pod you, yar yar 1337"
Me: "that sounds gross, can't we just spoon?"
Pirates: "homo.."
So I can't wait till I have a couple more months and a few more mil under my belt and then I hope I can live up to the Pirates of yore that have graced these pages before me.... YARRR!!!!!

Sounds great. Go ahead and train up your skills a little and earn some isk.
Although flying solo can be nice sometimes, I personally recommend joining a corporation/alliance so you can fly in gangs. Being part of a team of pirates is probably more fun in the long run, and you can learn a lot from the experience.
Last I checked (which was a long time ago I admit) there existed decent pirate corporations that accepted just about anyone who could fit a warp scrambler/disruptor and had the attitude befitting an Eve pirate.
Myself, I don't fit the pirate role, but I certainly enjoy pew-pew.

I would reccomend looking up some fittings for the incursus on the forums before you go out again also.
Good luck with future pirating/whatever you do.

Well, as long as you learn something from each death, it was worth it.
This time I hope you learned to use the ship scanner, and to keep yourself out of harms way while scanning.
Only thing to do now is to get out there.

Yeah I'm training like crazy, I setup logmein so while I am at work I can rdp in and train up. I didn't know any better so I loaded up on charisma during charecter creation. My logic was that sure.. I need willpower for fighting but charisma is good so I can look good doing it. Right?... damn....
