Great - show me a fitting for a Covetor that will fit a good enough tank to survive a gank attempt, and we'll talk.

And this is a MULTIPLAYER GAME. Get in a d*mn corp. Get a mining guard in a ship that ACTUALLY works as a guard. I can think of 4 ships that are AWSOME at guarding miners.
*sigh* Why can't you people get it through your heads? GUARDS DON'T WORK AGAINST SUICIDES! They go in expecting to go pop, they don't target the guards they target the miners, and usually with more than enough firepower to take out a barge or poorly-fit exhumer. After that, it doesn't matter if the guard gets them or CONCORD does, they've done most of what they intended. It seems almost like the Goons don't care as much about the mods on the wreck, as long as they get the miner. I don't think stopping them before they kill a barge is even possible, and an Exhumer with a good enough tank can survive without the guards...so what good, exactly, are guards going to do?
Originally by: D0nal0 Trumph I can also think of 10 fittings that will make you close to immune to the attackers if you fly an Exhumer.
Well, there are almost 800 exhumer pilots and counting who seem to have tried a lot of ways to avoid getting ganked and failed, but that's beside the point. What about the Covetors? The 'Swarm has nicely included them in it's activities - how is a barge supposed to be fit to survive an attack that can take out an exhumer?
Originally by: D0nal0 Trumph There are weekly complains about suicide attacks on haulers. Why is it so much worse what Goons do?
Any indy really can bump it's chances of survival to 100% using simple attention - don't use autopilot, warp to zero, stay out of lowsec, and fit a stab. With Goons warping in right on top of miners, guards useless, and the near-complete impossibility of fitting a tank to a barge, no amount of vigilance is going to bring the miners' odds anywhere near 100%. That said, I would not want to see CCP drop a nerf on suicide ganking as a whole, other than perhaps to limit insurance payout on ships that CONCORD whacks. No, I'd like to see a response in keeping with the overall setting - let's see the Amarr, Caldari, and Gallente Navies get involved, here! The Jihad is a direct challenge to the idea that they control the space they've claimed! Beyond that, the Amarr have got to be wondering if the exclusion of Minmatar space from the Jihad means there is some kind of back-alley deal in place...
