Edited by: Frontfoot on 12/04/2004 16:05:08 I have been working for a corp within a faction to increase my faction standing. I notice that my connection skill does affect my faction standing when viewing the corp I am working for. However, when I view another corp in the same faction I would expect my faction standing to also include the connection skill, but since I have not worked for this second corp before, my faction standing remains at base level and does not include connections. I would expect connections not to kick in for agent standing and corp standing until you do a mission for that corp but I would expect the faction standing to allways include connection skill modifications if you have done a mission for that faction. This is proving to be a pain as I would like to work for another corporation but I can not until my base faction standing reaches a certain level.

Haratu - Yes, as I said, I know you have to work for a corperation for the connections skill to kick in but I don't think you should have to work for a corperation for connections to affect your faction standing. As I mentioned above, I agree that you should have to work for a corperation in order for the connections to kick in when calculating personal and corp standings, but I do not think this should be the case for faction standings. I have worked for the faction before therefore I would expect to have the same faction standing when looking at any corperation in that faction. I do not think your faction standing should vary depending on which corp you look at since I think your faction standing should only have 1 value.
Also, as I said I am trying to increase my faction standing so that I can work for the new corperation, at the moment I can not however work for them. I have to increase my faction standing before I can work for that corp and as such this potential connections skill bug is casuing me problems.

No - I can not do that - I do not have a high enough faction standing wo work for even their worst agent (which is a level 2 agent of quality -1). However if connections skill was working as I believe it should be (in that your only have one faction standing per faction indpendant of the corp you are looking at) then I would have a high enough faction rating to work for them.

Deloup - You are just about right.
I am working for corp A in faction X to increase my faction rating so that I can get to work for corp B (which is in faction X) whose lowest agent is a level 2. I am not trying to increase my corp standing with corp B as I have no way of working for them yet so I am only trying to increase Faction X's rating which will allow me access to corp B's agents.
The only problem is that my faction rating with faction X only includes the connection skill when I look at my standings for corp A. When I view corp B's relationship tab it lists my faction standing without and connections skill modifications.
I was hoping that my faction rating with faction X would only have one value and not be dependant on whether I had worked for a corp in that faction before. I will also think that once you had worked for a faction that the connection skill would kick in (regardless of where you view the factions standing).
To put numbers behind this. I am working for corp A. When viewing the relationship tab with corp A it says I have a faction standing of 2.10. When viewing the relationship ab with corp B it says I have a faction standing of 0.59 (since I have no worked for that corp before and connections does not kick in). My point is that the faction standing should be the same no matter where you look and that as I have worked for this faction before (via corp A) I think connections should kick in. In order for me to get the agent in corp B I need to have a personal/corp or faction standing of 1.95 - which if my connections skill was modifying my faction standing I would have - but they reject me since they only see my base faction standign.

Yes exactly - neither corp B nor the faction itself show the connections skill. Altho some ppl I have talked too think that it is the way it is meant to be - but it seems wrong to me that connections does not affect faction standing.

Not sure why you think I have a negative corp rating....I said I do not have a high enough FACTION rating. I also mentioned that I have not worked for the corp before (which is why I trying to up my faction standing so that I can work for them) and as such I do not have any corp standing.
So no I am not getting confused with diplomacy, altho what you say about diplomacy is correct it has nothing to do with this particular problem.

In fact I would not mind having a negative corp rating with the corp then my connections skill would kick in for the faction standing and increase it so that I can work for the corp......hmm...maybe the easiest way for an agent in that corp to talk to me is for me to shoot one of their convoys :)
