dangers in asteroid belts are plentiful from pirates to ore thief's but nothing thus far is a "natural" threat.
meteor showers would randomly strike a belt or system and do random amounts of damage on a strike ( 1 damage to 1000 damage per rock depending on its size and speed)
this would be as unavoidable as being caught walking down the street during a rain storm.
damage would be similar to the signature radius for missiles. ( smaller the object, smaller the damage)
prehaps if a meteor rock hit a existing astroid additional materals would be inserted into the astroid)
also addition to the previous sentence, there could be "materal specific" or small group of "materal specific" Meteor showers that would have the potentional to add Exotic materals into more common astroid fields.
and this would just provide more of a realism of the dangers of being in space.

would be intresting to be mining in a ship and then suddenly have a hail of small rocks hit my ship and take my shields down a bit.
this could also lead to a medium or low slot item that deflects meteors or destroys them if they get close to hitting your ship. be nice to watch while mining

if you get hit by a meteor rock you will deffently feel a BUMP!

Not as thrilled with this one as your other topic. However, it might help with AFK/macro miners?

it might help get rid of the macro miners but it would also add another thing to look out for or look toward when mining. i know the only excitement when i am mining in my hulk is for when belt rats come to hassle me and i can watch my 5 light drones kick their arse =)
