Apoc, paladin, nightmare, absolution are the best choices.
Paladin and nightmare are best, not that much difference between the apoc and absolution though. --- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs |

I'm sory but there are big big differences between the apoc and absolution. dmg , tanking , sig radius .... etc . absolution is better then the apoc.

You sir need a reality check. That Abso setup you posted does NOT do 'a lot of damage' if you have any clue about what good L4 damage is. It is at best mediorce. And why would you fit only 5 lasers in the first place?
Also, the pulse Abso wastes tons and tons of time getting in range, which, even combined with its okay dps when properly fitted, makes it a pretty BAD ship for L4s actually.
The battleships on the other hand (especially Abaddon and Apoc) all have the range to reach out and touch almost every NPC spawn without moving, and still have great dps at 45ish km, which is what most longest range NPC BS like to orbit at (some orbit eve further out, but they're rare). The Geddon has fitting issues though. And of course the Paladin and Nightmare are even better than their less pricey counterparts.
As for fitting an Amarr BS, against Blood, Sansha and Drones, the cornerstones are as many lasers as you can fit (any pulse on Apoc, T2 pulse @ scorch or beams on the others) and at least 2, better yet 3 HS and some tracking/optimal mods. Tank is a secondary consideration as you will be killing them so fast and/or at such ranges that not a lot of damage will get you you anyway. Against other NPCs, beef up tank, but I wouldn't be an expert here as I either decline those or run them in a better suited ship. Not many anyway if you run for Amarr which you should.
Of course this only applies if you alread know the missions, until you do just overtank your ship like hell so you don't die while getting to know them. Don't take a ganktank into an unknown mission.
There is no 'n' in turret There is no 'r' in faction There is no 'a' in Scorpion There is no 'e' in Caldari There is no makeup in rogue drones |

They all do work for lvl 4's. The geddon is a good place to start out. Its probably the "worst" one to use, but it gets the job done, and its cheapest, so losing one usually means replacing fittings, since insurance works well. Since it can be a bit harder to work in, once you gain the experience to sit in the abaddon, you'll really appreciate it more. ;-)
The Apoc is now a much better mission ship than it was - haven't decided if its better than abaddon though.

I use the Geddon a lot for PvE, but then again, but when I do I usually have a friend with me in a Raven who will tank the mission, which leaves me as the dps'er. Works well...

IMHO the Apoc is the best beginner ship for level 4s since it's very easy to set up a credible tank. While the geddon is cheaper it's much more vulnerable to user errors (since it's less cap stable). ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. If you're aligned towards Amarr, and can't fly Marauders - I'd say the nightmare is not for you. It's really quite a bit more skill intensive than the Paladin.
Personally, the geddon is an awesome pve ship. HIGHLY underestimated. Yes, it requires good skills and great equipment, but you do have a few extra hundred mil to spare, compared to the other ships. The only ship mentioned so far with a decent dronebay.

abaddon or apoc if your starting out apoc is a very good ship for those of you with lower end skills. the abaddon with good skills can basically afk every mission as long as you know the triggers. geddon is probably the hardest bs to fly well in the amarr collection it is very good but very unforgiving of pilot errors. so apoc if your starting out and abaddon when you have the cap skills sorted. Both apoc and abad are easy to tank where as the geddon isnt. paladin and nightmare are alot better for mission running but both are alot more skill intensive that the stock amarr bs's

Well i took a eve break a while ago, spent most of my remaining money on 90 day'ers, and started training for amarr I can use all t2 laser guns, and have lvl 5 in all amarr ship types most support skills are at 5 too, ie the cap skills, navigation, etc, and ability to use most t2 support modules. Several drone skills at 5 too, i can use t2 small and medium drones I have next to nothing in armor tanking skills though, dont even have mechanic higher than 4.

Edited by: SEYKACHU on 23/03/2008 16:04:54 The reverse holds true. I would recommend new pilots to start with abaddon as they will have the powergrid there. It is geddon that requires more experience (Electronics 5, AWU 4, Engineering 5). I use geddon for level 4 and prefer it. Abaddon is a dull ship. Very little to say for alpha strike volley with such a cap drain. Abaddon has one purpose Tachyon II long range boat for fleet battles. And thats about it. Geddon is a superb ship also for PvE. Get the right ACTIVE hardeners on using a mission guide and double up on them. The Rate of fire bonus the geddon has, makes for faster missions. Like so :
2 x Heat Sink II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 4 x Mission Specific Active Hardener Large Armor Repairer II
3 x Cap Recharger II
7 x Mega Pulse Laser II
3 x Capacitor Control Circuit I
5 x Ogre II
Use the drones for close encounter rather than webber. Cap control cirquit essential for all PVE, use it.
This is not a "theoretical fit". Its my standard fit for level 4. I wont be reading any replies just helping, bye.

I should say things the way I mean them. I don't mean the geddon sucks for missions, just that it takes more attention. Not necessarily the most SP, but the most pilot skill.
I always point new BS pilots to the Geddon right off though, since its the cheapest thing to learn in. Insurance basically pays for it, and new pilots will be losing a few ships. To me, its better to lose a few Geddons and be out 10-15 mil on each one, rather than losing the same number of Abaddons, which is very expensive to a new pilot.
I'd say if you can do lvl 4's in an Armageddon, you'll find them to be cake with a well fit Abaddon or Apoc - that's what I meant by "worst."

I would advise Amarrian mission runners to go Apoc then Paladin. The Armageddon and Abaddon can do lvl 4s. But they just arenÆt as good as the new Apocalypse IMO.
People like to talk about tanks and DPS when it comes to mission ships. What a lot of people forget is range. The Apoc can now fit mega pulses that can hit hard at much longer range than any of the other ships. This makes up for the damage bonus because in a pulse geddon or pulse abaddon you waste a lot of time (and damage) just getting into range. Or you lose damage because you had to switch to a longer range crystal.
So for range, tank, and DPS only the Apoc and the Paladin can do all three at the same time. IÆm a little angry this apoc change didnÆt happen until after I got a Paladin. It would have made my mission running so much better.
And donÆt waste your time training for the Absolution if you are a mission runner. It is utter garbage at missions. It has crap range and crap DPS compared to any BS. People like to talk up itÆs tank. ItÆs smaller size and higher speed does reduce damage but the tank turns to crap when webbed. And since youÆll be chasing after every BS they will get a lot of clean shots in the time it takes you to reach them.

Actually the Dual Heavy Beam Armageddon tanks decently (but not quite as well as the Apoc) and can deliver very decent damage at all ranges. ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. I use Abaddon and by my standards its the best Amarr BS for missions.
With 8 Modulated Megabeams (amarr navy gamma, UV and IR) 4 cap recharger2 1 lar2, 3hs2, 3 t2 hardeners 3xccc rigs.
Cap stable, does 760 gun-dps at 40km (add medium drones of your choice on top) it gank-tanks most missions with ease and the only mission i've had to warp out on is the last two spawns on enemies abound 5/5.
Clears missions extremely fast and its cheap on top. Apoc is more noob-friendly, but it has ****poor dps in comparison to an Abaddon.
(i do missions to make money so i dislike factionships and pimp fits as it will just increase the time/missions it takes to make a profit)

The difference is actually tiny because you can use Navy MFs instead of Gammas.
And the Apoc is cap stable without fitting 4 cap and 3 cap rigs. So you can use some of those slots to vastly increase the damage with better tracking and better range. Or you can increase the tanking with a few Nano Pumps.
EFT doesnÆt show the significant increase in damage you would get from better tracking and better range.
So while the Apoc is noob-friendly itÆs power really shines with solid skills.

The DHB geddon has less DPS than the MP appoc and it's less cap stable. You see, you had to trade a DPS and Tanking to get that extra range.

Bit of tanking (but not anything significant), yes. DPS, no. Not really. The DHB armageddon can pretty much match the MP Apoc in the damage department. 125m3 dronebay and +33% damage from it's RoF bonus will do that for you. ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. the difference between MF and gamma isnt 25%. Not that it matters as you can run with MF as well, but then you gotta micro-manage your cap a bit which i'm generally to lazy to do
Damage rigs stack with heatsinks, so rigs wont do you much mroe damage, tracking isnt much of an issue with megabeams (unless ofc you screw up your mission).
Don't underestimate the power of a high alpha in pve, big difference between two-volleying cruisers and three-volleying them.

Edited by: Pooned alot on 24/03/2008 03:00:37 Its skill heavy but an abbadon even considering the price is as somebody else stated able to afk all but a couple lev4's in empire
8x mega pulses (even t1 named works ok, but T2's flat out own) 2x amarr navy (or better) E-adaptive nanos 1x t2 heat sink, tracking mod, plate, explosive resist (whatever you need more for the mish) 1x t2 damage control 1x t2 thermal hardener 1x t2 kinetic hardener 1x t2 large armor repper 4x t2 cap recharger 3x cap recharge rigs t2 drones/sentrys/mix thereof
this gives you a decent tank and gank with permacap (skills pending). The only downside is range and the fact that most of the BS's want to stay around 40k out hurting your dps having to use microwaves/scorch rather than faction multis to reach them. Again the abby is very skill heavy and is almost useless without the skill levels for the cost, use the gedddon/apoc until then. But with the SP high enough its just an evil beast

Doesnt make the choice easier for those of us that will start lvl 4s in the near future :D
Currently doing lvl 1s in a punisher, leveling up standing with amarr and waiting for the training for large II guns
