so what missions do other people find interesting then? obviously all missions will get boring after a while cos lest face it, combat aint the exciting due to it bein fully automated.
a dozen or so npc are bad enough but when u get a mission with 60+ its gets pretty mind numbing.
do u get different types of missions in low sec or do they just get harder?

None. They find the ISK/loot/salvage they get interesting. And they find the "how to finish it faster" research interesting.
Also, a mission is always the same regardless of where you get it. A L4 Guristas Extravaganza will have almost exactly the same (slightly random) make-up of ships if you got it in a 1.0 system or a 0.0 system.

Doing the same mission over and over again IS interesting. CCP won the MMORPG "Readers Choice Favourite PVE(!) Game 2006" award, so doing the same mission again and again must be very interesting, the best things mmorpgs had to offer 2006 !

Warp in at 0/km instead of 50/km. Test which tactics will serve you better.
Reconfigure your ship with different modules to test their effectiveness and your ability to use them.
Use lesser modules to see if they're adequate to the job so you can fit more powerful modules elsewhere.
Change your drones, turrets, damage types, shields, armor resists, repairers, shield boosters, cap rechargers/boosters to see which combination is most effective.
Aggro different ships to see if your drones are affected differently. Go after the big guys first or the support frigates?
Take out the towers/sentry guns first or concentrate on the ships?
Will a faster, lighter ship take less damage than a heavily armor tanked one? Will the extra speed enable you to take out more ships quicker?
Change ammo types, missile types, to see if they are as effective as others.
Test target painters, tracking computers, heat sinks, stabilizers, sensor boosters, and anything else that fits and you are trained for to see if you can use them properly.
Fly a mission with a lesser ship to see if your piloting skills can still finish the mission.
Missions aren't just about bounty, Isk, and loyalty points. They're also a way to become a better and more versatile pilot.

It seems it is time for you to leave PvE and start PvP

Then I suppose you HAVEN'T tried any of the COSMOS constellations yet ? Other than those "once in a character's life" missions, yeah, the rest ARE repetitive. And they're like that for a reason... would you prefer if only beltrats existed ?
Also... well... some people still enjoy Tetris nowadays, so... ahem... well, truth is somewhere in the middle. "Reader's Choice" implies the readers liked it. Not "best the industry has to offer". Just a matter of taste.
As long as you view the mission as a two-step process, one being planning, the other execution, it makes sense. Also, for lowsec or 0.0 mission-running, it's not just the mission itself, it's also the chance to get "uninvited guests" (well, you can get them in highsec too, but they're slightly less dangerous there).

Oh come on, mission running is as dull as ditch water 99% of the time. It's not much different from mining, except I'm making NPC's go pop rather than 'roids.
I liven it up doing it in 0.0 sometimes. Missions are usually fun the first time you read them. I've honestly laughed out loud once or twice.
But it is blob stuff. I know they are not "scripted" missions for that agent, but generic db lists that filters for all agents. COSMOS stuff excluded - that to me is scripted. But it is a one off.
The thing is eve is just SO good elsewhere, it really grates when you do AE for the 90th time... that day...
Sure I'll try different things. Seriously, run a level 1 mission in your ibis/reaper (newbie ship) for giggles. That IS a challenge when you use the newbie weapons too. (You'll need to use the drone space for extra dps)
As for that best PvE stuff... yeah well just because missions are possibly better than other MMOG's, don't mean that it's perfect. The mission system is the same as AO, be nice to think something more could be done. Isn't AO 15 years old now?
Just to clarify - that PvE award, is that purely missions? Or does it include other eve activites? Mining/trading. Because I'd respectfully suggest if it is just missioning, the voters possibly need to get out more. Don't get me wrong, that's pretty much all I do now... But I personally think it's about the weakest part of eve right now.
To make it better? Why doesn't the script generating your mission also filter on your character sheet? If I've got all the probe skills max'ed to 5 and I'm working for astrosurveying, why doesn't that agent send me out to survey something? Hacking, archaeology included here. Look at that line of 10 newbie missions you get. I'd like to see something engaging the grey cells a little bit more here. Audita et altera pars |

Actually i think most of the missions are ok, but the thing that lowers the experience of doing them is that doing missions for some hours, you will be doing same mission over and over.
CCP Should add a script to missionselection where you can only do same mission every so and so hours.
Sure we all love getting favorite mission 3 times in a row, but come on, sometimes you just want to put a missile on that damsel couse its the 5th time yoy saved her ass that day.
Alot has happend since i started playing 2003, and back then you could accept it easier becouse there wasnt that many missions. But today we got lots of missions, and more comming so it should be do-able.

yeah, the missions are kinda grindy, they dont feel as bad as a generic MMO's endless killing field though.
just out of interest what ship and what weapons system do you use? if you fly a ship that only has just enough resources to get through a fight then things can be quite fun. like a thorax with blasters in a lvl3, thats a nice challenged.
or start looking for a PvP corp, pirate, alliance, small gangs, big gangs, what ever you fancy, if PvE is boring then i bet PvP wont be
just remember, different strokes for different folks.
Because sometimes you just have to go back to your roots: [2005.02.20 01:08:03] (combat) Your Civilian Light Electron Blaster perfectly strikes Serpentis Smuggler, wrecking for 20.3 damage |

IT all depends on whether you see the missions as the endgame or as a step to the endgame.
I do missions to supplement my market income and to get the loot. I WAS one of those guys in Diablo II who liked to have 1 of everything. _______________ Pwett CEO, Founder, & Executor <Q> QUANT Hegemony
