I am sorry Vidamus, but I disagree.
Players should be allowed to do what they want. Smaller players might use it for self goods, and you are telling me bigger corps don't? Smaller players might be using it as a means to make money, and to be honest upping the costs just makes making money even harder, ESPECIALLY when blueprints material requirements where all changed and they now lie bluntly. The blueprints should be the default requirements, against which your skills should improve apon.
Have ANY of you seriously ever tried to make a living as a small crafter before? Pure pirate hunting and mining isn't particularly exciting, but given the chance to try to be creative as well is great, but having that negated by silly factory costs, well it just doesn't make much sense.
I agree with the other posts, plenty of good ideas exist on the old forums about solutions to this problem. There were PLENTY to be read.
Up the price, just like they upped minerals required for blueprints Actual requirements.
Simply Put: You will not have a self regulating and working player economy if players see no economy in making items others will want to buy. Market will be shot, we will have to rely on NPC supplies. Kinda kills the whole player-market run item doesn't it?
There were better solutions then this to the problem at hand. Like there were better solutions to the recycle exploit. All ignored to date, 'just code: base * 8 - that will solve the problem'.
No it won't - players hogging all the factories probably can afford this, and even then making millions selling them makes them too much money to let them go. Plus it still damages basic market economy for low end items, without with guns won't shoot, missile launchers won't fire, etc.
Go read the old forums, there are far far better solutions to these problems there then Price x 8.
Just what is the point of making low end items, if the time hasnt' been adjusted but costs for production have? Lowered profit on all items is net effect, and next to no point making ammunition, or low end items at all.
