well.. i mean the flys arn't really losing the eggs are they ? there putting them in there on purpose. If u were to ask the fly ( ignoring for a monment the sillyness of the idea of talking to a fly) " Hey Jeff, wheres your eggs m8 ?" He would no doubt be able to point, with some certainty , to the dead animal.
If however, u were to say to ka-tet " Hey Ka-tet , where the hells all your members gone ?" you'd get nothing.. not even a blank expresion, hell by the time u finsied the question, they eould have left, you would be on your own. Might as well talk to flys either way, crap metaphore, try harder

BIG is in a Big Snit because we got sick and tired of giving them Vaseline so that they could get them selves out the docking ports on the stations. t.DK are back stabbers, and decided to start shooting K-Vec, another corp in the alliance, in the middle of the war, and since the leader of the Alliance never logged on, they got away with it.

well i kinda typed my way down a blind ally there, by the time I had reached the egglaying part, I had already called the fly jeff ( as in jeff Goldbloom, as in "The fly" ) so I was pretty much stuck with a male fly by then.
Had I noticed, I would have hoped you wouldn't have noticed, but I didn't, and of course you did.
And that's why proof-reading is so very important. There might be some sort of male fly that lays eggs though, or something, I'll google it, I bet the internet knows.
tell you what, whilst your waiting, why don't you talk about ka-tet losing members like flys laying eggs on a de.. oh ahh no wait weve been here already havn't we. just talk amongst yourselves

Edited by: Valgren on 23/03/2008 22:01:49 Ok, from someone who was a director of one of the ka-tet founding corps, I can tell you why a lot of people (myself included) left...
We formed ka-tet with the idea that it would be a small number of large corps. Everything would be equal among the member corps as far as the running of the alliance. Everything went well at first, but then we started losing our pvp base because we had nap'd everyone and their brother and we had to go 30 jumps to find a fight. The idea that it has anything to do with money is rediculous...there are tons of good moons out there, and although the drones don't have bounties, they have other things that smart people can take advantage of and make a lot of money. Look at the billions of isk in ship losses on the ka-tet KB, and the way they continue to throw ships away. Production capabilities out there are unmatched. But I digress.
Back to the topic at hand...once the pvp'ers started leaving, it caused a large shift in power within both Rampage Eternal and Untaught. They basically split into seperate groups, with a large number of senior members leaving because of lack of pvp. We had similar problems in AWM, but not nearly on the level as RAM and T.DK. The higher ups leaving were replaced by people who were not holding true to the ideals that we had when forming ka-tet...it eventually downgraded to where it is now, which is basically a smaller ASCN. Lots of isk and production capability, but mostly carebear and a weird conglomerate of crappy little corps...and I forsee them going down like ASCN.
Come to think of it...most of this downward slide started happening when a number of ASCN refugee corps showed up on our doorstep and we took them in as renter/residents....hmmm...
But, as far as corps/people leaving now, it's like with any other KOS-esque alliance...corps are going to come and go on a pretty steady basis, mainly people thinking it's going to be grand and finding out that they would be better off running lvl3 missions for Nurtura than being in ka-tet, and leave.
Ka-tet was never supposed to have more than 4 member corps according to our original charter. We should have just kept our blue to RA and set everyone else neutral...I can only dream of what things would be like now if we had held true to that.

AWM left Ka-Tet a couple of weeks back. Ka-Tet have been at war with first FREGE, then DMC, then Atlas + Chaos for many months now, for much neighbour-shootage.
I'm not all that convinced that a lack of PvP opportunities is the source of all of Ka-Tet's recent woes.

The damage began with ds1 joining and our terribly run campaign in feyth, helping out the rsf very early in the war, perhaps nearly 2 years ago. That was what broke up MASS/RAM and Untaught/TDK.
While alot of pvpers left at that point, there was still a very large, capable contingent who stayed true to the ideals of ka-tet. This memberbase slowly eroded from lack of pvp apart from brief stints that occurred such as fighting Mpire in Branch, Frege etc, but these were not enough to hold a core pvp base. By this stage other corps had joined which had diluted the pvp/carebear percentages to the point where perhaps only 20-30% of the playerbase were actively participating in pvp.
By the time the DMC war happened ka-tet was well and truely slide into carebear hell. The balance of power in the COS had shifted to a more industrial focus as well, and before long it got to the point where a general reset was out of the question. It was only a matter of time before the final diehards exhausted themselves defending self interested *******s.
Originally by: "Val" I can only dream of what things would be like now if we had held true to that.
A-*******-men
EDIT: After rereading I should point out that simply pointing the finger at the non-founding corps as the problem would be somewhat inaccurate. Internally the three founding corps also suffered heavy setbacks and participation issues.

There was no unity within the executor corp (rampage) from the start. Oh those endless lol convos on teamspeak... Drop a bunch of serious industrials with a group of heavyweight pvp veterans in the drone regions for a couple of weeks under one flag and you get uber fragtastic levels of total boredom on one side (and no they won't jump into bloody haulers and 'help'). At first there was some LV to hunt down but that was soon history as well.
I learned a lot while there though. About the human side of things that is. Shame to see it all falling apart. I was one of the first to leave Linkage to nberleet alliance info and sovereignty maps0rs!!! |

Hey Cruel,
Just curious if there is any word from Unrah about repayment to his investors? I am told he isn't responding to evemails and isn't accepting private convos. I noticed that Feigling's corp joined Ka-Tet and is now in Carpe Universitas.

these guys all about coverd it, the frege war was supposed to happen in April/May of 07 with a sneak attack by smashkill/ram as a last ditch effort to restart the alliance but that never really materialized. then trigger came back to the game and decided to give up and reformed mass and that was pretty much it since all the euro pvpers left for mass from RAM and other pvpers went on to other corps.

Valgren's reply is extremly accurate. I was a member of The Huns, a pvp corp that joined ka-tet's 3 original corps and at that time pvp was the main thing going in ka-tet. When someone showed up anywhere in the region we'd get a 30-40 men gang in under 1 minute and we'd chase them. Then came the DS1 disaster, yes they had a huge capital fleet and yes they committed them but I believe DS1 and the other ka-tet corps had a different agenda so in the end of the feyth campaign DS1 left and some of the most active pvpers were a bit fed up. At that time some ex-ASCN applied and were refused, because we simply weren't a "let's all be nice red pets and carebear the whole day long" alliance. As additional proof to what Valgren said, we in the huns were having internal problems (real life issues, too much effort to build our own outpost, etc - doesnt matter) and since ka-tet membership was demanding we decided to leave - please note no one asked us to leave, and whoever was in the huns and is in other places today still remembers ka-tet ppl as great ppl. After that some good corps joined ka-tet but a LOT of ASCN refugees were allowed to join, too - and you simply can't say "all corps must have 100 pvpers and an outpost" and then allow some to simply behave differently! It is sad to see what ka-tet became, after having been a true elite alliance.

Sure, in pvp, they were not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed (seriously guys, some of those fittings.....). But, they didn't just give up. Even thier industrial members were flying whatever they could to try and help fight. We make jokes about them basicly being raped, but they held on. And kept fighting, even after substantial losses.

oh im sorry, i had to giggle... i had respect for RAM at the beginning, but since all the people i really knew left / quit and more people began to grow pretentious and egotistical i soon lost that respect i once had...
Ka-tet is not what it was/is... it's a ghost in the shell. the people we made the bonds with, the allies with, the naps... they have lost respect as the ideals and founding members have gone. all they have to work with these days are people with egos and chest beaters. buying RA's help disgusted me, 30billion isk for what? the securing of oasa and what a waste of time that was. you stretched the alliance out too far without proper logistics and numbers. the self appointed leader Raven left the corps there to fend for themselves whilst he took the r64 moons and got profitable... not a good morale booster for the alliance as the leader / leading corp get rich, others made to suffer.
as for your comment bout doors hitting our ass and breaking necks... you may sit behind the computer and hide behind your persona, but you talk bout lost respect... you never had my respect and wouldve lost it for that comment. we had our reasons for leaving, we done it peacefully and without ill manners...
as i said in my earlier post, the Ka-Tet that was created with the morales and ideals has died, the allies you once had have fallen. tis only a name without meaning.
RIP Ka-tet of old. and RIP Ka-Tet of new, you had your fun trying to play region holders, time to move on

It is semi satisfying to see a year later what origionally told Ka-tet people during the r97 siege. Sorry but I can't really see any alliance that has ever had DS1 in their alliance as being considered a respectable alliance. Either they had previously lowered or their standards didn't exist in the first place.
Ether way even to the people not in Ka-tet but looking on from the outside. The acceptance of DS1 or STK in to your ranks is an Alliances recipe for internal disaster. You were warned a year ago.......next time heed the warnings.

Which one? LOL there were so many. Hell the number of POSs we ran was almost as many as the members in the alliance. We had one POS in r97 that was like the only POS in there at Planet 9-7. It survived two entire invasions. First the Ka-Tet invasion, then the TCF one, Was never reinforced nor attacked. It's greatest achievement was killing TCF cov ops that kept warping in to it.
Then there was 0oyz that had all moons covered. I don't recall Ka-tet ever being able to break in to that system at all. TCF I think killed the 3 smalls and then the same day that F-T was going down killed one of the larges to take sov for less then a month. Never having been able to take the other 3 down before BoB ousted them.
I remember Ka-tet coming to kill off a small in one of our dead end ratting systems in that area I can't really remember the name of atm. For the most part Ka-tet didn't really do much more then out spam and shoot down one station and kill a small ratting POS if I recall correctly. didn't really have too much trouble with Ka-tet at all. TCF was a bit of a challenge for a 15 man alliance. But that was still fun too.
Either way I knew Ka-tet was doomed once DS1 joined them. Was only a matter of time. I've thought wow they've survived the curse a lot longer then I expected. Although seeing the posts above I guess they really hadn't. Just just the hulk remained after the talent bailed.
Looking back a year ago though, had some awesome fights, lots of fun, tons of local banter. Hind sight is 20/20 but still wouldn't change at thing.
