I was searching belts in Soshin, a 0.6, being the naughty pirate I am, with the intend of ransoming the containers for isk. I had already ransomed a guy today, and he said he would never pay me for the ore, so I blew his can.
Now I come back to that belt after 2 hours orso, and I see that same guy in his Thorax mining again, with a friend that has been playing since June in an Apocalypse. I just blew up their can cause the guy wasn't going to pay anyway. Then all of a sudden 8 ogres orso start shooting at me, together with the Apocalypse with some tachyons. 
My Rifter with basic stuff got shot and blown up, but my friends in CONCORD warped in aswell and pounded the apoc for like 2 minutes before it was shot to pieces...
Cost of a rifter with some cruise and basic stuff: 100k (had insurance)
Cost of an apoc with named mining equipment seen shoot to hell and back: Priceless 
not flaming or trolling but i have a Q for u, why would u ransom a container in a Rifter? what was he mining? bistot? i don't see any reason to ransom a container of basic ore, if this is the case then u can not be makeing any isk from this! can u? i mean your Rifter can't hold any large amount of ore. Forgive me for not understanding this but i think your full of ****
Who in there right mind would use an Apoc to blow up a Rifter who's blowing up cans of basic ore? big deal move on to the next system. OR do what i would have done and take out the Kestral w/ cruise missles and blow the Rifter to pieces. Try tub dipping in my Mining Op and i garentee your Frigate or Cruiser will not last long and this is with no loss to me or my corp m8's
Tub dippers r lame and its the easiest thing to do in eve. even a hamster flying a paper clip can do that.
