This just seems like basic piracy to me, no reason for everyone to get worked up. C'mon guys, give him a break. When you are a pirate you put people in situations where they might pay you money. Ransoming cans sounds pretty reasonable, a can of basic ore can be worth anything from 700k-1.2mil. Some people might pay a little for their ore and their time. Others, like me, will not.
Someday he might move up to more advanced piracy.
As a side note I shot at an ore theif in a 1.0 knowing I would lose my ship (Rifter). I did it to prove a point. As long as these people think nobody will attack them they will steel with impunity. However once they stand to lose something it changes things a bit.
In the heat of the moment the Apoc guy just made a decision. Some of us might have done the same thing. Others might have stayed more cool.

actually, i'm not sure the Apoc guy did it intentionally. it could have been the drones reacting to the aggression by Nosferatu. i ran into this thing yesterday. 3 idiots jumped me in Tsuguwa and i had drones out. before they could fly away, i scooped them because we ran accross this while corp testing PvP with a new interceptor. the drones one guy had out automatically targeted the aggressive interceptor and started unloading on it. ((side note: those drones tore at least three new *******s into the interceptor, so watch out!)) i got lucky and scooped the drones and sat back to watch CONDORD blow them up.
so watch out for drones and griefers you guys. safe mining to all
EDIT: okay, after re-reading it did look like the guy in the Apoc was firing tachyons. but, we DID run accross the auto-attack drones "problem". i'm not exactly sure, but just watch it if you target another ship while you have drones out. especially if that ship is targetting you and/or firing upon you.

I was thinking the same thing.
I'm not evil though. I just think everyone should give this guy a break. There are thousands of pirates in Eve, why put your effort into targetting this one dude who is still at the basic can ransoming level?
What he did is not such a terrible crime for a pirate. Bragging about it is kind of lame but...
