For roleplay to die in Eve, that would be to assume that there ever was roleplay in Eve. I tried to roleplay my character the first few months of play until I realized that the background information I was going off in the manual had NOTHING to do with the actual races in the game. Yes there are some small pocket channels in the game where limited roleplay does take place...but I doubt we will ever see the extent of roleplay take place that a simply LP MUD can contain. Maybe if there was a p-wipe roleplay could grow and mature...but sadly I think it is the last priority of many people. --Missa New Siggy to Come Soon(tm) |

How's that for interactive role play? ------

What I'm curious about here is, currently there was a rather significant civil war going on in the Fountian region, with betrayals, propaganda, conflicts, murders, vendettas, and all the other crazy stuff you get in a civil war.
My question becomes, how is this not roleplay? If such events were to happen in, say the Khanid Kingdom, it would most likely be considered RP nirvana.
It stikes me that these player caused events are a new form of RP, capable of bringing great amounts of content into the game. It's hard for even a team of devs to come up with the same level of complexity that a few hundred people just interacting can.

Yep... spot on! If you want to roleplay in EVE just adopt a character... and then act as you think that character would... You have the freedom in EVE to be that character. You don't like Minmatars - go to 0.0 and try and shoot a few... or form a corp and declare war... If your a trader/manufacturer refuse to sell to people from corps/races you don't like and so on....
