I think the alphabetical tric still applies here, if the letter is closer to the A, it's generaly more valuable. The only exeption is spudomain which is actually quite valuable. Though I haven't mined in years and never have done intensively. So I'll probably get corrected on this one by one of the more experienced carebears. _

Misinformation, except the bit about people coming along to correct you. I keep seeing people peddle the notion that Omber is worth more than Veldspar per m3. The price of isogen just doesn't support this. And spod's a fail ore. Geddit? If not it's not worth very much.
And great work on thinking anyone who knows how much ore is worth must be a carebear. +1 there.

you will find this site very helpful EVEINFO
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
Just a word of warning: Many of those sites use the base price of the minerals. Not the market price. The mineral market currently is rather out of whack in relation to the base prices - make sure you know which prices it is using.
The Grismar one works in-game and you can type in the prices for each mineral at the top and it will re-calculate for you.
Just figure out what 100,000m3 (or some other arbitrary large number) of each ore refines to. Then figure out the value of that, using whatever means of pricing you prefer (highest Jita buy orders, for example).
Grismar's page and evegeek, for example, have the refine value of each type listed. Don't worry about the +5% and +10% ores, just assume they give +5% and +10% ISK.
Seriously, ore values fluctuate with the mineral markets, the only constant is usually that Arkanor is on top. For example, when trit was scraping the shuttle price cap and well above 3 ISK a unit, Veldspar was beating most highsec ore, and all lowsec ore below Hedbergite.
Oh, and another constant is that Spodumain is usually pretty damn near worthless, unless the price of Megacyte is extremely high and you have no access to ABC. -------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |
my spreadsheet with last week's Oursulaert buy order prices and 2-year-old refine values gives:
veldspar 95 isk/m3 scordite 91.1 pyrox 75.6 plagio 92.1 omber 67 kernite 99
jaspet 43.3 hemorphite 37.4 hedbergite 52.4
gneiss 240 dark ochre 223.4 crokite 448.9 spodumain 87.5 bistot 414.2 arkonor 395.4
lowsec ores would still be worse than highsec ores if this spreadsheet included the change to refine values that added tiny amounts of zyd or whatever.
This is why low-sec is empty... Not only is it more risky it is LESS profitable than empire.
FYI my ranking scale is based on jita sell prices as of five minutes ago.
Miner's Guide does not have current mineral prices, impossible to update something that changes daily, just gotta put in the leg work and get some experience every time you mine.
