That was a nice kill. Illustrates the value of Falcon support pretty clearly. Too bad all that potential loot got fried. The mid-slot salvager is an item that was introduced in the boost patch. CCP felt that the cost of faction battleships was getting too low, and they wanted to help out the guys who were manufacturing Marauders by driving faction BS costs back up. They did this by limiting the amount of faction BSs any one person could purchase from an LP store to one. Once you purchased that one then that place in the LP store is replaced by a mid-slot version of what is normally a high slot module. So if you're willing to spend 600k LPs on a mid-slot salvager now you can do that. Everyone is happy, according to CCP.

BTW just to point out his whine is quite valid, faction loot nearly always gets destroyed there seems to be some kind of issue with how it drops.....

doesn't it have to do with the low amount of structure faction loot has? I vaguely recall something like that, if you look in the repair window. I think every item gets a random X amount of damage (for example between 0 and 50). An item with only 20 structure (say a faction item) has a 60% of being destroyed in such a case (60% chance that random amount X is greater than 20), while an item with 35 structure only has a 30% chance of being destroyed. (Figures are as an illustration only, I didn't check em).
If you wanna check if this is correct, look at a repair screen and check the hitpoints of various items. I am not entirely sure, but this is how I remember it.

If I had to guess, I'd say items with higher meta levels have a lower base drop chance. Would explain why T1 crap drops all the time and most of the faction stuff gets wiped out every single time.

Actually apparently nowadays he's started to ask for ransom and then blowing up his victims (which is very unsporting tbh)
