This is the funniest thing I have read all year. The stupidity of certain members of the human race is mind boggling on occasion...

Funnily enough i was watching a show on this last night. Something like 4 out of every 10 Americans and UK residents believe in Creationism which totally shocked me tbh. There were people saying they genuinely believed the Earth is only 6000 years old. The creationists stated aim was also on the show and during the interview their spokesperson said they wanted science to become friendly and compatible with Christianity. Basically, false science.

Those statistics sound wrong to me Gaunty, at the very least they're conflated. US belief in creationism is up around 50% iirc, whilst in the UK it's closer to 10%, 10% too high to be honest, and with the encroachment of rich creationists into Religious and Academy Schools its a moving in a worrying direction, but the US has a far bigger problem than Europe at the moment.

Ah i dunno mate, i'm going by the show which used a survey done by the BBC on the matter. It was on at 2 in the morning though and i was playing ETQW at the same time so my memory might be a little hazy on it but i'm 90% sure that those were the figures that the surveys showed.

i am not going to go as far as i hate religion, but it has no right, to class its self as a science (ID), or to actually infringe upon others there beliefs through mass media OR academic means.

Actually I'm pretty sure they have a right to say whatever they jolly well like, just as you do. Everyone seems to love having a bash at religion on the internet, but they never seem to realise just how bigoted they usually sound.
Don't forget that Christians honestly believe that they are right, and that if they didn't try to spread their religion, then they would be leaving others to an eternity in hell, which they could possibly have helped save them from.
It may be "obvious" to you that they are wrong, but no more than it is "obvious" to them that they are right. What makes your view more valid?
Edit: Oh dammit, now this is going to turn into a discussion of religion! Please don't try to argue, just try to be a little more understanding of other peoples' view points in future. - Originally by: Miss Anthropy Real life friends are over-rated and real doll's are just sad. i would not be surprised if that was correct for the UK and US combined, but i have seen other statistics that suggest that the US alone accounts for most of that (by a lot)
i blame this on early US history... basically England sent over all their religious nutcases to colonize the new world (they were called "pilgrims" and "puritans") and those people had lots and lots of kids that eventually became the ******** half of the US population.
meanwhile, England managed to almost completely rid itself of religious crazies. thanks alot, guys.

Its incredible.. i am astounded. Quantum mechanics cannot even work or have been discovered if there was a god, Quantum mechanics tells us that a physical observer, makes a atom choose between physical states and its available options, but without an observer all choices or none can be given.
a god of any kind would break they very fundamental law of quantum mechanics and we would not have Quantum computers wiki QUT COMP and linky for Quantum mechanics

Gotta say that he has a point about how even mentioning Darwinism results in such a bad backlash. I for one believe in Darwinism, I mean if god did exist than why does he not manifest himself in physical form (3 miles tall with a lot of light .etc) because I think that we'd all pretty much agree that he exists and thus the world will probably go peaceful very quickly, either that or we'd try and take him out with a first strike .

Edited by: Meiyang Lee on 28/03/2008 18:59:58 Now i'm a biologist so i'd say my standpoint on the matter is pretty clear.
But how, while sifting out people from the queue did they miss Prof. Dawkins, he has to be quite a bit more famous than the author of this blog. That and how serious these people take this is what stunned me most.
If they want ID to be considered a science then let them prove it, if you can give me undeniable evidence that you are correct (or atleast a theory well-constructed enough to be plausible) then, and only then should ID even be considered getting added to scientific canon.
