Dreads in siege mode can't hit a battleship moving faster than a snail shot up with novocaine, but yeah he would get added tank bonuses in siege mode so he'd be that much harder to kill. I'm sure if the Goons wanted it bad enough they could field a large enough fleet to destroy the Veldnaught. The only issue would be the crashing of whatever node Amarr is on.

Please don't drop anymore "logic bawmbs" on us. Why would a dread fit for mining be a threat with his big guns and siege mode? Seems logical to me that he would fit mining stuff rather than combat stuff, why waste stront, locking time, and the veld you could mine by fitting mining lasers, especially being in high-sec. Plus the whole thing would be over before he could target lock enough of the suiciders to matter. Not sure how no siege mode or losses from Chribba kills would affect your overall estimate of required ships to do the task, but I'm sure it's still more than it will ever be worth.
