If you are missioning or ratting and you find yourself having to warp out fer a bit and forget to reel-in your drones, the NPC rats should be able to scoop them up, make them their own and when you return your own drones are set against you.
ooo OoOoo.... to take the idea one more step up, I think a new high-slot module called sumthin' like "Drone Hacker". When another sets drones on you, you activate this chance-based mod and maybe you get a successful hack and are able to control said drone setting it upon your enemy!
Support this idea or I'll start making random disposable alts just to post elated support here.

That sounds like a good idea; more depth in missions is needed.
Minus the hacking or if hacked they become rouge and attack everyone.
I had a thread about the mission rats tracking you down and attacking you randomly outside of missions in an attempt at revenge, it didnĘt get much interest. Maybe this idea will.

well, besides of being a great reason for the surprised mission runners to send in petitions i see no difference it would make, no game ballance change, just something that could possibly cause further bugs where bugs were not do date
i like the idea of anti-drone warfare though, it's limited to smartbombing and possibly ecm bursting atm (anybody ever used ecm burst? don't think so; should definitely be a high slot mod)
something like a 'drone confuser' would be great, it would make drones lose their target and attack randomly whatever's around
