Edited by: LordAsgard on 15/04/2004 22:03:26 okay i started playing eve about a week ago. i was 2 million away from a nice shiny throax and i like to mine omber.
i was really enjoying the game then all of a sudden someone called delicious came up to me locked on and said give me 1 million and ill leave. i said no he shot my ORE can. and he left. i spent 5 hours all morning putting omber in that can so i chase him and blow him up and concorde kill me.
im now thinking of quiting the game after soemthing so anoying happerning its ruined it for me, fair enough its part of the game but
If he can shoot my ore can i spent ages mining into and concorde dont do anything i cant defend myself from him as they will kill me if i try i really think this sucks and is bad as the police in real life.
okay maybe im sad for moaning and im probably a newbie but its very upsetting and yes i did have secure cans but they hold so little.

Edited by: MarkyP on 15/04/2004 22:06:49 Sorry to hear about your loss, but I BET that the lessons you learn from it will lessen the chance of it happening again.
I speak from experience, and therefore have a sympathetic slant, but you always remember these encounters, and devise methods to make sure that next time, theres a backup plan and you expose the least amount of ISK assets possible.
Gotta lose stuff to appreciate new stuff. New BETTER stuff.

Edited by: Lao Tzu on 15/04/2004 22:11:00 1) If you Jettison ore it no longer belongs to you, in concords eyes this pirate was just shooting junk.
2)Even as a noob you must've know that Concord would gank you for shooting at him.
Try using secure cans, mining in an area where you can shoot people or mine one cargo hold full and haul.

come now we all know hats becuase CCP doesn't want to deal with having to find a way to fix the problem :) still if you have an indy sitting right next to the can and keep that can dry, then the thief has nothing to steal :D

Edited by: Silverlancer on 15/04/2004 22:17:39 First of all, move in front of the cruise missile and it will hit you instead, and concord will blow up the attacking pirate.
Second of all, mining with unsecure cans is allowed by CCP (it still belongs to you, which is why it will be a crime after Shiva to blow up/steal cans). The "jetisson" definition has been changed .
Third of all, use multiple cans. As in 5-10.
Fourth of all, once you get a thorax and heavy drones, mine in 0.4 space... you can kill the guy then :).
And finally, if you are afraid, just join our corp--we'll take care of you. Convo me in game for details.

Edited by: Harry Voyager on 15/04/2004 22:22:14 Heh, at least all you lost was some ore and a frigate. I think my first mess with can-griefers ended up cascading into a huge mess that ended up costing another player, who was not involved her battleship. CCP wouldn't even reimburse it.
I was *ticked*. Come to think of it, I'm still *ticked*, but now I've got plans to deal with those griefers on my own.

Ahhhhh.... yah that sucks.
But there are ways to get those idiots without getting screwed over.
Missile alts are nice for this. Or what you can do is start getting lvl 3 agents in the regions the guy hangs out in. Use them to find out exactly where he is when he is loged on. Then pay him a vist while he ismining and do much more then pop his can.

tbh - jet cans should be treated as your property imo regardless of some cop out daft rule by concord if they are destroyed.

FYI: You can sit in 1.0 and attack a secure can right next to CONCORD, they wouldn't touch you. Does that seem right? No!
And the "another carebare...", go put a torp in your blowhole.

Does Concord gank you if you do that in lower security space?

When i lost my brand new Blackbird in beta to Cap. Zerelia (never forgot his name) i felt very angry.
Although i simpatise with your lost, is this type of unpredictability i like about EVE. In space everything goes. Selling Raven BPC ME20 3M at Yulai 1st Station |

Oh, and ignore people like Mastiphal - he's just another chickenshit "ore liberator" who wouldn't have the balls to shoot someone unless CONCORD did it for him.

If you were writing a Word document would you wait 5hrs before hitting 'Save'? Probably not!
If you were playing any other game would you go 5hrs without saving your progress? Probably not!
The lesson here is don't leave it so long before you ship your ore back to a station. Even if that pirate hadn't come along numerous other things could have happened to make you lose it, and 5 hrs work is a lot to lose.
Anyway, more than 5hrs mining into the one jettison can? I'll not compound your misery by telling you how short a time it takes me to fill one! Ravelin Eb

i HIGHLY recommend investing in some giant secure cans and the Anchoring skill (and a hauler to haul them if you dont already) .. 300k per can for a newer player might sting a bit but its worth it and is the ONLY solution to the problem atm ..
Giant Secure can: 3900m3 = 300k Industrial Ship = 200-400k(dont need anything fancy unless your in 0.5 or lower)
and remember you can place more giant cans in your cargo to act kinda as "expanders"
DO NOT forget to anchor the can! DO NOT forget to put a password on it!
..or you could find a region where almost nobody goes and mine the belts in peace (HUGE map folks, explore!)

Lesson to learn: space is not a safe place. Too bad you had to learn it this hard way, but hey, don't give up at the first discouragement, will you?
My favorite solution: get yourself an indy and take some time to haul the stuff every now and then to mimimize your losses and the pirate's gain when this happens, or team up with someone to haul the ore as you get it mined. If you intend to keep at the miner career, I suggest finding a miner corporation, to make it easier to form a mining op team.

How come people keep falling for the same old crap time and time again?
Havent there been enough posts/rants/complaining about this topic?
When will people finally learn that your not SUPPOSED to mine in a jettisoned can. It should be considered HIGHLY risky to say the least..
The fact that jettisoned containers have a limited lifespan should be hint enough that CCP didnt mean for you to stuff it full of ore.
What you basically did was kill a person for cleaning up junk. You can immagen concord would get ****ed of because of that. Your a murderer basically.
If you shot a guy infront of a cops eyes because he ran off with your garbage can...what do you think will happen?
Use a secure container and see howmuch safer you are!

No that was the 'idiot fee'...
The ore was the 'keep space dirty fee'.
Originally by: cashman It's time for Eris to get a clue. CCP should make a statement about this.
It's the exact same things as what Zombie did, you may not attack in "safe-areas" (empire/within sentry range) without loosing your ship.

Sounds like Del is up to his old tricks again. Hes a complete waste of space and all he does is annoy other players by stealing from cans in safe space knowing fine well u can't do anything about it. Hes been doing this for a long time now.
