All other things being equal, 12. Note this is based on the '10' you provided and applies for Medium Beam I and it's meta level 4 equivalent - other mods may have different increases.
Now what you should've asked is "how can I check how much benefit I will have from any named item over it's tech 1 counterpart". Since I'm in a good mood, I'll pretend you asked that question
'Show info' on the modules and check the attributes tab (or use the 'compare' function on the 'variations' tab), then compare the damage modifier and rate of fire if you are interested in the DPS. Note that fitting requirements and other attributes may differ too. Please visit your user settings to re-enable images. Skills Explained |

Be polite.
If he asked whether there was a difference, then I'd agree with your comment, although not phrased so abrasively.
However he asked whether there was a real (ie noticeable) difference, which is a slightly different question and one I would expect a new player to ask. Just because something looks better on paper, doesn't mean it is actually better in game - take a look at all those EFT designed setups.

and to answer the question:
yes, it usually is a big difference, althou in the beginning you might want to buy other stuff instead of spending a heck of money on a good named gun. (eg an afterburner or armour repper)
if you think the gun is expensive, dont buy! later on you will get a lot more money...
the 20% extra DPS is about the same amount as you would get from a damage mod (low slot item to enhance damage and rof, different for each type of gun (3 diferent + 1 for missiles)) and later on when you have a few of those it will make a really big difference what type of gun you put on your ship
