Edited by: Sleepkevert on 31/03/2008 11:38:54 Nope, has been working fine on my end. Takes a few seconds to kick in every now and then though, but it works fine.
I must say it's one of the best features in a while, no more spamming in channels with xes and hope your x gets picked up. Clicking a link ftw.
Though, being able to name the link yourself would be absolutely awesome. _ http://sleepkever.no-ip.info/sig/ Please visit your user settings to re-enable images. Sign my sig![/url] |

Other than, break my local chat pushing the window half out of the top of my screen when opening the gang chat, and breaking my overview and object window by pushing them off the top of the screen when the braodcast window opens yeah its fine.
Have noticed that sometimes (when being boss and fleet commander) it sometimes doesn't update the right click menu with the optionto let you do it --------------------- Nox Eternus is Recruiting, contact me or Sgt Shazz ingame for info. |

Set the fleet for open invite then whilst in the chat you wish to use right click your pilot and at the bottom of the list you will see the option.

Fleet settings, like when you set up your overview, but for fleet window.
Then right click your picture in fleet chat and you can get the link there and post it in any chan.

The implementation is garbage and has never worked for me.
You have to manually link the fleet (in corp chat only?).
I don't really know, I've never been able to do more than enable it. - Support fixing the UI|Suggest Jita fixes|Compact logs |

you link to it by either right clicking your name and selecting link fleet after you'br set the fleet to self invite, or you can right click any channel you are in and do it I believe.

Self invites and moves are a great feature. Too bad the window placement can completely fubar your overview. Several times I've had to eject from my domi and reboard just to get my overview back. I'm surprised it hasn't been fixed yet. How hard can it be to have a window stay in the same place it was left?

this is a great feature, but needs improving:
1) should be able to allow self-invite from non-alliance members, according to standings.
2) needs the ability to name the links.
3) needs a more intuitive way to post the link... like maybe from the fleet settings? or from the "fleet" sub-menu when you right-click yourself in any channel, but have options for which channel to post it to.
4) would be cool if you could pre-set which wing/squad they will join when they click the link... maybe if squad leaders could post links just for their squad?
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
Used to have that same problem until I combined the windows with my drone window so they are all tabs now of the same window, which also keeps the drone window where I moved it too now as well.
It's not bugged, just not very intuitive.
Ideally you would be able to name a fleet and then everyone would get a menu somewhere that lists all the fleets they are able to self join. Having to have it linked into a chat window is just... ********.
The mechanics side of it apart though it's a really nice addition.
Regarding the window positioning, it's not related to the self-invite function at all (happens with joining a fleet normally) and there is a simple work around. Go into key bindings and bind a key to "minimise all windows". When your overview goes AWOL, simply hit that binding to minimize the windows and then when you open the overview and selected items again they will be within the normal window borders and you can move them back to where they should be.
Just like every other new feature CCP has introduced like forevah. Sometimes I think they take the 'adapt or die' line a little too seriously.
