Fairly new player here as well as all of my Corp. We are just now becoming able to mine safely in 0.4 space and are enjoying the Kernite mining. Lately I have been wondering where the roids are that have the Mega and Zydrine in them. Is it 0.0 space or are they found in 0.3 also. I usually run in a two person team with one covering the other mining and transferring to a can. We like to do this with 2 Moas. If anyone would be kind enough to tell me what security levels to find these minerals are and also if 2 Moas in the hands of 2 people still learning the art of combat would be able to hold their own against the NPC pirates Id appreciate it.

You probably won't find any mega/zyd 'roids anywhere but 0.0 space. If you're mining in a cruiser, try a thorax instead. You can fit 5 mining lasers on it. :) ----- I have taken all knowledge to by my province. - Sir Francis Bacon science & technology news

Thats what I was afraid of. No way we are ready for 0.0 NPC pirates or player opponents. Still cutting our teeth. Have to get those ores off the market.

To be specific, 0.0 non-empire is where you'll find zyd and mega.

you need 0.0 space and a battleship for protection dont try in 0.0 to mine in cruisers. " Stay Frosty "

And it's worth pointing out that you usually need to make a few jumps into 0.0 non-empire space as well, before finding good stuff. It's not right up on the border.

it may even be worth your while joinging a mining corp if thats your thing. youll find the benefits of this works out much better than going at it in small groups. plus mining corps ALWAYS want more miners ----------------------------------------------- The Return Of Denst |

I solo mined in 0.0 space in a cruiser, and could be done with 3 people and a station very easy without a battleship.
Have the 2 miner's mine away, but face a safe spot to warp away to (station, warpgate). The 3rd person is in an indy, and also will need a capsule for scouting.
The 3rd person scout's out belts and makes bookmarks before things get started. NPC rats don't shoot at pods so you are safe from everything but players in this state. Once you have 2-3 belts bookmarked, you move around to the different belt's. The indy stay's out of the way for a bit.
You mine away until rat's show up, then warp to your safe spot. The hauler get's back in his capsule and checks the other belts for rats.
When it's time for the hauler to grab the can's, have somebody scout ahead in a capsule to make sure there are no rats and get in and out as fast as you can.
I lose ships every now and then (gone thru 4 haulers) while solo mining in this way, but haven't lost a ship yet when I've had a spotter. And while using cruiser's and indy's I had enough to get a tier 2 battleship in a week.

Can all this be done without player pirate intervention!? I have noticed very few stations in 0.0 and thought that dew to this that it would create a 'bottle neck' effect of pirates waiting at/near stations to catch you!
And if your near a station will it's guns protect you if fired on in 0.0?
Thanks, just wanting to know as i mainly mine alone.

Keep an eye on local and keep your ship pointed towards your escape route at all times. If someone shows up in local, it's probably time to hide.

No, they only fire if you attack the station or hit it with a stray missile.
Hope this helps, and good luck. _______________________________________________ Eris Discordia: On the scale of funny and constructive it scores low, real low. |

Stations and Stargates in non-empire 0.0 space do not have any sentry guns, so you aren't protected from pirates near them. |

Just read your post. Well if you wanna go an mine in 0.0 space... no real problem have the cans ready and a hauler. And do Ninja-Mining... as we like to say. If rats show up leave go to other field. Or best is do some mining ops with other corp together. Which we also do and this way we can devide the duties -> Miner, Hauler, Protection. Split the Ore even and all are Happy.
So I wish you guys good luck and I tell you Ninja Mining is fun lol. Keeps the Adrenalin flowing.
