CCP has a RDG (random dev generator) in the basement, which churns them out at a rate of about two a day. They're placed in cold storage for later use in case another dev is incapacitated. Reasons include, but are not limited to:
- pregnancy
- liver failure
- detox (rare)
- swarming at fanfest
- found playing The Game That Shall Not Be Named at the office
