I'm sure everyone has had a moment like this, a moment where you gain a sudden understanding, a moment where all the puzzle pieces fit together and make you go "wow!".
Can you remember the moment that made you go "wow!" and got you seriously hooked on Eve?
Was it your first pvp experience? Your first fully completed trade run? The first time you ran a blockade? the first time you looked at corp. chat and realised "These guys are my mates and I trust them"?

Must have been about two weeks after I started and got my shiny new rifter fuly equipped from the corp I started in. When in trouble fighting rats in a belt in sec space this mighty huuuuuge thorax with a corpmate in it came to the rescue it had 250mm rails on it!!!!! God, the fireworks...that kinda triggered the piracy thing in me as well...

For me it would be the first time i tried to make someone pay a toll for passing through a jumpgate...
And the hunt which resulted from him not paying.
Before i tried something new (pirating), i was doing mining, trading anything legit. I even lead a small time corporation for a few months. After a while i felt i had tried everything and the game burned me out, i got bored and quit...
After a while i came back and decided to swing thing around completely and just hold up the first person i came across. It was something new that made me want to play again. A whole new universe opened up to me and now i find myself fighting on the other side of the fence...
Funny how that works...
Thats why i know that you can never judge anything untill you have tried everything, something more people in EVE should do imho.
Originally by: cashman It's time for Eris to get a clue. CCP should make a statement about this.
It's the exact same things as what Zombie did, you may not attack in "safe-areas" (empire/within sentry range) without loosing your ship.

When I was a little n00b in an Imicus mining and an Exqueror came in and started mining right where I was. I checked out the stats of the ship and owning one of those was my goal in life (til I learned better).
That and when my other character was flying his Tristan around protecting the miners of 'his' system from the NPC pirates. I kinda felt like I was doing something in the universe.

I still have the guys name "Savek Tuili" or somthing like that.

I was hooked pretty much from day 1.
But when I went on my corp organised a hunt and I took my first foray into 0.0 looking for some pvp action, that's when my Eve experience really opened up!
The satisfaction of taking on a gate camper and having him sprint off. The thrill of the chase as we all followed him to finish the job. The fear as we realise he's teamed up with his bigger mates to take us on. Then the exhileration of getting your first kill and podding the guy for good measure
I may have been a carebear miner once, but i'm cured of that now

The very first time I shot around with missiles. I was so amazed that I shot missiles at everything I could find, roids, other people in the belt I was in. When I warped to the next gate I saw a freighter there, locked him, slapped him around with my missiles and sticked my pogo outta the window - just to have it grilled by the sentry guns.
30 minutes later I had a new Kestrel again and proceeded spamming, this time npc rats.

Hell yes, my goal was to own a Vexor from day one. I thought I'd never get there... Oh my. (I have only owned a Vexor on TQ for a few days though, hunted some NPCs then I sold it... Months after I got my battleship).
On topic, from the moment I got a beta mail in my inbox, to be honest.

Sadly and ironically, it was when I first went to a school of applied knowledge station and looked at all the skills for sale and thought "omg I have to be able to do all that stuff!".
Similar moment a few weeks after getting back into the game (I played beta but missed the first 5 weeks or so of retail due to a planetside addiction) when a mate in a Megathron came to show off to my thne corp as we were all mining in Moa's. I had the predictable reaction when that thing appeared next to my Moa and triggered it's tactical shields... "WTF is THAT and WTF are THEY!". Never went on to fly a Mega though!

Still waiting myself, today I journeyed to the eve gate, sure there were some wow moments (I were annoyed I couldn't reach the gate, even with afterburners, and have my ship torn apart, tho), of particular note was the first hollow asteroid I've ever seen, as well as the first metal ring structure I've seen .
Yesterday I started r & d for the first time, hasn't been very eventfull.
So, I'm still waiting, the things I've tried so far have been, mining (eugh...), npc hunting, TRADING! (its slow, but okayish, especially considering I found a really good trade route between two stations in one system, I milked it dry, still, it wasn't worth anywhere near as much as some people claim to make in a day) and agent missions (which make me travel far too much ).
Never tried pvp, so maybe its still to come, I expect it is.

The first time undocked with my self-mined Navitas from the federal Navy assembly station in Scolluzer. That was beta, when getting your first real ship was an struggle. Gawd that ship looked good. Spend hours just flying around and looking at the ship. There and then I decided to grow old in EVE. Never stopped playing since..

Flying around Obe one night, my CEO got all excited and told me to go check out this cruiser at a stargate! All the blinking lights had him mesmerized!
Needless to say, it was Gauss of m0o and he quickly killed my CEO's poor rifter. I was quite hooked then.

let's see... i would have to say when Xanadu purchased over 55M isk worth of minerals from me at once. that would have to be the latest wow moment. (they keep getting better)
but as for the first...
fleeing from some dude named Silver Surfer (or something to that effect) back in June. i had come upon a team of miners and swooped in with my little Imi to poke around in the many, many loot cans floating about. he and i ended up racing to a couple when he realized i was swiping the loot from their kills! he was so ****ed. i can't be sure, but i think he was in a cruiser. whatever his ship was, it was bigger than mine! Caldari, i think. i sent him 50k so he wouldn't be mad!

The latest one was when I realized that there actually are people in this game who really, truly despise pirates and can't understand that someone would want to play the game that way (and that this choice must make that someone nearly a villain in real life as well).
It's a game. Things like piracy make it interesting.

I have a couple of moments:
- Back when I was a carebear and ninja-mining arkonor in Aikantoh with my Imicus and a friend, I had to go back to my home station to pick up my Badger Mk II. On the way I got shot at by Axelay from m0o. Luckily for me he only armoured me before I could jump through. Unfortunately, my friend in an Imicus carrying about 25M-worth of megacyte/zydrine (at NPC prices for that time) wasn't so lucky and got podded. He was ready to quit the game there and then but in the end it just made us more determined.
- After joining RONA Corp. and getting into my first Moa we had a scuffle with m0o near 4C-B7X and on our way back from the fight (we lost a Thorax which was a BIG deal in those times) I ended up alone at a stargate with Stavros in his Maller (alongwith the super-powerful 425mm Scout + surgical strike stacking bug) and he armoured my Moa in 3 shots. I tried shooting back with my 250mm proto's but they hit for crap (I didn't know about the stacking bug) and in the end I had to jump out. That was my first PvP experience where someone actually shot back!
- My first fleet battle in EV was in my brand-new Scorpion in FD-MLJ against Shinra/RUS and although Shinra/RUS decided they liked to stay docked at that point I'll never forget the powerful feeling I got from sitting amongst a group of 7 - 10 battleships.

I have to admit playing this game is great fun, i have only been playing it for about a month now, and am hooked, one of my real life friends helped convince me to play it and got me into a newly formed corporation of a bunch of ex-EV players and they were very helpful, but my "wow" moment, was when i went down with SGE into a fleet battle, i forget whom exactly the enemy was or the system, but sitting there watching all the cruise missiles flying back and forth just bombarding each other, was a great time, and recently just who I have been able to work with; Joshua Calvert, Con'Mal, and Greenhornet, Niko, Wiseguy, and Drakk(my real life friend) has been a learning experience in itself, and just flying around with them just makes me want to get a Battleship as well. I'm sure me saying this will just get me shot by enemies of Clarity of Purpose, so yeah I have had two moments that helped get me hooked, the fleet battle, and just watching them tear stuff up like they do. Seeing stuff like that just makes me want to level up faster just so i can do stuff like that. Oh well I am done rambling about this kind of stuff great game and I love it

Last year when Miner II's first came out. We'd mined our socks off and as a reward I thought Id go fetch a few miner II's (15x3Million). We were a small corp and Id set off with nearly 70% of the corps funds converted to mega, that was the only way to get them back then unless you queued for weeks. On the way there I was attacked, and had to rush a pirate blockade.
I was shaking for hours afterwards, I just sat thinking Ive never had a rush like that from any game.
Since then the games had its ups and downs, but Im still here, and enjoying my game time.
