If youÆve never heard of us then you prob wonÆt be interested in this, but for those small number of you that have, here is a little bit about UK1.
2 years ago tomorrow, a few battlefield 2 buddies from the clan UK1, would decide to start using a different channel on teamspeak from the rest of us. Strange we thought, but the corporation of UK1 was being born, and Tryfanman, Umberto, Ream and Robber together founded the corporation, none of them with any Eve experience, other than what theyÆd learnt in their few days to date.
Gradually more of us got intrigued with this 'new' game people were playing and started to experiment as well. Before we knew it, half of the clan were playing Eve.
This gave UK1 a boost in numbers, and helped us in our early days. None of us really knew much of what we were doing as we were all brand new, but that added to the interest of doing it for ourselves!
Early Days
Our early days were spent in the system of Amygnone in Gallente space, and here we followed what the founders had started to do and mine. For a few months we sat there together, talking and mining. Until one day...
While busy mining in high sec, Warlord ( our famous BF2 Dolphin diver, bunny hopper and general trouble maker ) suggested we all go and mine in low sec. So we kitted out our cruisers with our miners, and went in, mined for about 2 hours and then 3 flashy reds appeared on the overview and killed us all ( thanks Ewokpoacher and co ).
From here on things were different. I personnally never trained another mining or industry related skill EVER again. I swore revenge, and started focusing on fighting. Many of the corp did too.
Our background really helped us too ( considering we were all new ). We had one thing many other corps didnÆt, proper team work and the wish to make things work. This has stayed with us to this day.
Low Sec With Tryfan deciding he no longer wanted to be CEO, the role was passed to me. Now we were getting more used to combat, we entered some low sec systems. With some fights with the locals, but also made some friends along the way. Masmi were the first to offer us help, along with RAGEX.
Learning from our new friends, we were now getting better at figthing, but this was causing some internal trouble as the industrialists didn't like us 'causing trouble for them'. At one point we managed to get 5 war decs against us. To a corp full of 6 month olds this seemed like the end, but instead everyone chipped in, everyone fought and we held our own with the help of our friends.
Alliances We then decided to join Myriad alliance through our UK1 BF2 member Stevil, who was in it. Based in Immensea they offered something new and exciting. Unfortunately the weekend we joined was the weekend they were forced out by a looming war between Goons, RA & UNL against LV. Myriad were a great bunch, but we joined them at the wrong time! Our time in the alliance was a learning curve, but many corps were leaving and the alliance only lasted a few months more. The wars against the Privateers and the Ronin, finally finished them off.
Then we joined Red Moon Federation, again one of our BF2 players used to be in CoRM so we went down there. Now we were sprung into the war between BOB and the Goons, fighting on the side we wanted to be. The laggy fleet fights and capital engagements were fun for a while, but most of our members were longing to be able to fight lag free, and in small sharp gangs again. RMF were eventually overrun by 400 odd Goon, TCF, UNL fleets and the support from the allies wasn't exactly quick enough. By the time BOB came back to help, the balance of control had shifted.

This time was also UK1Æs darkest hour, we came within the brink of disbanding, due to internal quarrels. I spend about a week not undocking, just sorting things out and trying to smooth things over. We managed it, and forged a new path, a pure PVP path. Those that didnÆt like it left and we wished most of them well, those that were left just wanted to fight! Perhaps we should of done this all along, everyone together with a common goal! The PVP vrs Industrialist politics always seemed to pull the corp in 2 different directions, no-ones fault just how people want to play the game!
Where we are now
After we left the war, we merged with a new friendly corp, the Horse Killers. We acquired a great bunch of lads, and some very effective fighters. We complimented each others skills quite well. Most people could field Hacs, command ships and recons. We set about a few empire wars, some against giant alliances, others against other PVP corps and some against some juicy looking industrial corps. WeÆve spent the last few months wandering around, looking for fights. WeÆve been to Solitude, Syndicate, Outer Ring. WeÆve joined an alliance with our old friends Master Miners and Deep Impact. WeÆre now pretty much all flashy red pirates and kill everything we see thatÆs not blue on sight. It was last night in fact when we warped into a belt and blew up a low sec mining operation, that I thought back to our first PVP experience. I realised now weÆd gone full circle! And we loved it!
WeÆve made some good friends, weÆve made plenty of enemies too. For the amount of people that respect us, thereÆs probably an equal number that smack us. ThatÆs just life though. WeÆve met some good people, and plenty of complete idiots.
But weÆve come a long way from scratch in our 2 years, and have genuinely built up the corp from nothing into a very small but effective fighting force. We may only have ever had 30 to 40 members for our entire 2 years, but in all 3 alliances weÆve been in I think our kills per member ratio has been the best in all of them. On average weÆve got an 80% kill efficiency for our entire 2 years. We go for quality over quantity everytime.
So hereÆs to our happy birthday, and our next 2 years!. Oh and IÆm still waiting for revenge on Ewokpoacher ;)

Edited by: TryfanMan on 05/04/2008 18:01:12 Nice recount of history m8, couldn't do it better myself (at least the early days).
I remember you lot feeling the sharp end of Ewokpaocher's and Kinike's (can't remember how it's spelt) anti-carebear wrath. Not sure which one of them it was, but one of them decided to make your local channel retaliation immortal for a short while in their bio. Of course you couldn't do much else being only a few weeks old, but you cut them down to size with the cutting remark "and you killed warlord while he was putting his kids to bed...", as much to say, you heartless b*stards... Kill a father while he's looking after his kids...!
And now, you would do the same... Not a bad thing, just life in EVE. Gawd bless her.
