I'm 100% sure you are talking out of your ass.
Quote: I am sure you can dig up any number of builds for just about any of the CS with tanks equal or better than that of BS and within 30% of the DPS.
Ok, I'll humor you. Dig up a CS equivelent for this setup:
Hyperion:
4x Ion II, 4x Electron II
100mn mwd II, WD II, Web, Heavy inject, Medium inject
2x LAR II, 2x EANM II, 1x DCU II, 1x MagStab II
4x Ogre IIs. 2x Aux nano pump, 1x nanobot accelerator
Tanks 922dps, EHP 72k, 974 dps.

Oh, and BCs/CS use cruiser sized weaponry, which means they have an easier time laying the smackdown on smaller targets than BS sized do.
Personally, I haven't flown a battleship in 6 months.
Thats exactly my take on it as well. IMO a command ship is pretty much the end all to ships smaller than it, barring nano of course.
Field commands *****nanos, especially the sleip/absolution.

Originally by: Euriti Currently I'm training towards HACs and Command Ships but for every day that passes I get more convinced that a BC will do a non nano'd HACs job better and that a Command Ship will just get owned by a good battleship, while doing less dps and tanking worse, leaving it as a big, expensive t2 target prodiving bonuses. Am I right or wrong in this assumption? I'm slighty worried
Short answer:
Train out for speed/agility in HAC
Train up for tank/DPS in battleships
Train in the middle if you want to provide gang bonuses.
Providing gang bonuses provides lots of benefit to your gang, but little to yourself. If you have a bunch of people that do bonuses already, run for battleships or HACs. http://eve-files.com/dl/154147

Command ships generally suck for team based comabt roless vs. a comparable Tier 3 Battlecruiser. Drake has just as much tank as a Nighthawk, etc. etc.
I find that for most small-team combat situations, fitting multiple gang mods is worthless. Command ships really shine in Fleet scenarios, where those gang mods dish out significant, global bonuses to virtually hundreds of players (some limits, obv).
CCP has made it so that ship-class mismatch scenarios are always going to be met with disaster if you're on the short end of the scenario. BSvs.CS = BS wins. Just like CS vs. Cruiser or HAC, CS wins.
There are, ofc, many different possible scenarios to consider, incl number of pilots on each side of enagagement, ship makeup, elements of surprise, etc. But by and large, the fully-insurable BC's are hands-down the better choice. They, too, can fit gang mods, and they generally have lots or PG and CPU, and ofc, they have 3 rig upgrade points, not 2.
CCP has yet to fully develop the Command Ship's role, imo, and since Fleet combat sucks due to lag and a general lack of scalability, you can bet that CS's will continue to be a novelty ship flown by people who have isk and just don't care if they lose them. /Mar

I think for small gang warfare, the T2 combat ships are far superior to the T1 ships of the bigger class.
I'd personally have no qualms about going head to head with any battlecruiser in my sacrilege. I'm pretty confident that I'd not loose anyway.
The gap between the CS and battleships is much larger due to heavy neuts though. My Gedddon pumps out more dps than my absol, can use a set of T2 medium ECM drones with a set of Hammerheads II's, tanks double the dmg and costs about half.
I'm off two minds about my CS training. The absol is a joy to fly, but in most cases, I'd be better off in a battleship.

Even if the number of ppl getting the bonus is not that high it can make a very significant difference. You just dont dismiss an extra 38% speed and scrambler range, the main tackler of our gang using a raptor gains ~11km range to the srcambler and ~5 km/s more speed bringing him dmn close to the 20 km/s mark.

Problem is the tackler can't count on it. If he is first in a system (for belt tackle or whatever) he doesn't get bonus until the gang mod enters system. Also, if the gang mod ship warps, the tackler loses his bonuses..

True, it needs good timing to make it work for roaming but tbh thats not a big issue if you are using TS/Vent/etc for the gang anyways.
