Well he (the OP) has a point, EVE has changed alot in the last 2-3 years and the changes were not loyal to the ppl who were actually the first playerbase but catered more towards acquiring new customers and the mass' (no, not the corp lol).
I personally miss solo pvping in 0.0 alot, nowadays u keep facing gate camps with gangs that lock u down in less than a second, blobs and more blobs with enough tools forcing you to log off..
And I was someone who had fun triangulating safespots before probes, but I guess that was too much hassle for the folks who looked for instant gratification rather than a challange and mature entertainment....
EVE has changed from a "space adventure" into a "space CS", no I wont give up that fast but I feel for the op.

Every game has its nostalgia simple fact is that what we remember and what was reality are two different things.
Didn't everyong one love that CS style gank whacking when you undocked I MEAN WOW what fun that was... Nostalgia is always more fun then real history.

Dont read the forums - youll enjoy EVE a lot more.
Take a extended break, play something else.

TBH, several months ago I (2005 yr char) was close to deletion of my char as well.
I was very busy in RL and overstressed due to crapload of work so my frustration vented towards EVE.
I already gave ISK to my friends and moaned in chat about leaving,
than corpmate persuaded me to leave char undeleted for one week and than to decide.
So thanks to him (ty SpoonBender  ) I'm still here and enjoy Eve.
Devotion to this game is like y=sin x
So if you are in bad mood about it, just leave for week, month or so,
and you'll be back, grateful because of your saved SP's.

Maybe slightly jaded. Posting a quit thread is a bid for attention. I think the OP is suffering from boredom rage. His obvious frustration will diminish over time until eventually it evaporates and then, if he feels like coming back into the game (out of curiosity if nothing else), he'll start to regret toasting his character.
If I were him, I'd set a very long skill training (Capital Ships 5) and then uninstall Eve from his PC, remove his Eve mates from his MSN and clear his Eve bookmarks from his browser.
But first, move all his stuff from those player conquerable stations  .
Edit: oh and make sure he's got all his research agents up and running. I quit for a year and when returned I had over 4b worth of datacores to spend (from 2 characters). It was a very nice suprise.

The problem is that you seem to be under the impression that you leaving will have a catastrophic effect on EVE. Face it, you started this thread in the hopes that others would go "MaDex is leaving!? Oh noes! This represents the end of civlisation! We better start improving EVE!"

Why not wait with the deleting bit till the CSM elections are over?
There still is hope for this game, and there are still people around fighting for what they believe in, their friends believe in, hell, a large part of Eve believes in it. For some of the people in this thread, I don't know if there's hope. But for the game, there definately is.
Actually, I really would like to have a word with you to hear the exact things that make you frustrated (I obviously can guess, but I'd like to hear it in your own words and experiences), and what you believe should be changed.

It's a good game, but not what it was.
When your character have been deleted, I, will advance one step up among the finite numbers of characters thats currently above me. One step up to becoming the Oldest character in the game 
I like it allready!

I called my parents to tell them all about MeDaX's thread tbh. I was all like "hey this guy is gonna put his character in the biomass processor." and they were all like "can we have his stuff" and I was all like "nah he said he gave it to his corp buddies or something." Then they were like "that's totally lame" and I was all like "I know, right?"
And then my sister gets on the phone too okay and they're like "maybe he has pressing real life issues and he wants to be absolutely sure he doesn't get distracted by Eve anymore so he's going to kill his character" and so I say "nah he's quitting because the game makes him mad" and she's like "I thought it was supposed to make people mad, how long has he been playing like four weeks?" and so I say "no it was more like four YEARS" and so she says "and he's only getting mad about it NOW?" and I'm like "uh, duh, I already pointed that out in the thread, why don't you go marry your idiot boyfriend and leave us the hell alone." So she did.

I am not going to dispute you trying to leave or anything - but if you gave your stuff to your corp mates, why not give the char to them? or sell it and give them the isk? Deleting it seems like such a waste...
