I dont like where eve's going and its community, so im leaving within 9 hours my char is melted (2003) So it forces myself not to play eve few months down the line.
As for the little children saying "can i has your stuff" no you cant, ive donated it all to my corp friends.
I guess the fascist mods will lock this thread for the fear of "free speach"
It's a good game, but not what it was.

It's a good game, but not what it was.
I'm so glad that you felt it necessary to make your public decree but remain vague on what exactly has changed with the game and it's community.
In the future, I'm sure that more constructive criticism rather than a public declaration of what equates to "This game sucks, I'm taking my bat and ball and going home" would aid those you've contacted much more.

If you're not having fun with the game anymore, by all means do quit. Like you say, a game is supposed to be fun. But you wouldn't be the first to get the itch again and badly regret the deletion of your character. I really can't stress enough how much I'd recommend cancelling that biomass process and just quitting for a while. Things change, leave an open door for you to get back in.

Fair nuff dude. I get that. That's why I have a WoW account lurking int he background. There is something to be said about sometimes just plugging in and not having to think at all... Especially after a long day at work!

I was in Beta the game was horrible and it was still horrible on release. Today Eve is a masterpiece compared to 2003.

Well he (the OP) has a point, EVE has changed alot in the last 2-3 years and the changes were not loyal to the ppl who were actually the first playerbase but catered more towards acquiring new customers and the mass' (no, not the corp lol).
I personally miss solo pvping in 0.0 alot, nowadays u keep facing gate camps with gangs that lock u down in less than a second, blobs and more blobs with enough tools forcing you to log off..
And I was someone who had fun triangulating safespots before probes, but I guess that was too much hassle for the folks who looked for instant gratification rather than a challange and mature entertainment....
EVE has changed from a "space adventure" into a "space CS", no I wont give up that fast but I feel for the op.

Every game has its nostalgia simple fact is that what we remember and what was reality are two different things.
Didn't everyong one love that CS style gank whacking when you undocked I MEAN WOW what fun that was... Nostalgia is always more fun then real history.

TBH, several months ago I (2005 yr char) was close to deletion of my char as well.
I was very busy in RL and overstressed due to crapload of work so my frustration vented towards EVE.
I already gave ISK to my friends and moaned in chat about leaving,
than corpmate persuaded me to leave char undeleted for one week and than to decide.
So thanks to him (ty SpoonBender ) I'm still here and enjoy Eve.
Devotion to this game is like y=sin x
So if you are in bad mood about it, just leave for week, month or so,
and you'll be back, grateful because of your saved SP's.

Maybe slightly jaded. Posting a quit thread is a bid for attention. I think the OP is suffering from boredom rage. His obvious frustration will diminish over time until eventually it evaporates and then, if he feels like coming back into the game (out of curiosity if nothing else), he'll start to regret toasting his character.
If I were him, I'd set a very long skill training (Capital Ships 5) and then uninstall Eve from his PC, remove his Eve mates from his MSN and clear his Eve bookmarks from his browser.
But first, move all his stuff from those player conquerable stations .
Edit: oh and make sure he's got all his research agents up and running. I quit for a year and when returned I had over 4b worth of datacores to spend (from 2 characters). It was a very nice suprise.

There still is hope for this game, and there are still people around fighting for what they believe in, their friends believe in, hell, a large part of Eve believes in it. For some of the people in this thread, I don't know if there's hope. But for the game, there definately is.

I called my parents to tell them all about MeDaX's thread tbh. I was all like "hey this guy is gonna put his character in the biomass processor." and they were all like "can we have his stuff" and I was all like "nah he said he gave it to his corp buddies or something." Then they were like "that's totally lame" and I was all like "I know, right?"
And then my sister gets on the phone too okay and they're like "maybe he has pressing real life issues and he wants to be absolutely sure he doesn't get distracted by Eve anymore so he's going to kill his character" and so I say "nah he's quitting because the game makes him mad" and she's like "I thought it was supposed to make people mad, how long has he been playing like four weeks?" and so I say "no it was more like four YEARS" and so she says "and he's only getting mad about it NOW?" and I'm like "uh, duh, I already pointed that out in the thread, why don't you go marry your idiot boyfriend and leave us the hell alone." So she did.

Quiting eve sounds fine,
Melting your char sounds fine too,
Real Life is certainly more important, and this may be the best way to focus more on RL than internet spaceships.
But why post on the Forums ?
As has been said already by others, it makes you look like a whiney attention seeking teenager (and there is surely nothing worse).

Ahh I've seen many scenarios like this. I believe this is the common trend, at step 4:
1) Emokid logs in one day, realizes that a bug may have moved his item two squares to the right.
2) Emokid throws a tantrum to his clan mates, explaining this small invasive bug will certainly predict doom for the game and they are all idiots for not seeing it.
3) Emokid calms down enough to realize that he alienated his entire clan; decides to save himself from future emotional pain and decides to delete his character.
4) Emokid, as emokids do, makes sure to tell the world in his best way possible about his pain and suffering.
5) Emokid spends roughly a week exploring the real world, realizing he is far too sensitive for most professional work and way too sensitive for a meaningful relationship.
6) Emokid becomes severely bored without his former time-sink. Begins to miss his clans who he shunned so coldly. Yet emokid knows in his heart that the clan will forgive him as he would forgive them.
7) Emokid remembers he deleted his character. That's OK! Emokid knows Emo gets results in customer service and calls up customer service explaining that his account was hacked and deleted. Character is restored.
8) Emokid returns to a wary clan. Return to step (1) after three months or so.

I called my parents to tell them all about MeDaX's thread tbh. Then they were like "that's totally lame" and I was all like "I know, right?"
And then my sister gets on the phone too okay and they're like "maybe he has pressing real life issues and he wants to be absolutely sure he doesn't get distracted by Eve anymore so he's going to kill his character" and so I say "nah he's quitting because the game makes him mad" and she's like "I thought it was supposed to make people mad, how long has he been playing like four weeks?" and so I say "no it was more like four YEARS" and so she says "and he's only getting mad about it NOW?" and I'm like "uh, duh, I already pointed that out in the thread, why don't you go marry your idiot boyfriend and leave us the hell alone." So she did.

Don't BIOMAS your characters. Just walk away from the game and stop coming to the forums...for a while, couple of months is nothing.
Trust me, you will regret it otherwise.
And being angry in this game is pretty normal. This game can make anyone angry considering how many bugs and problems the average person experiences. I mean just *THINKING* about Sunday Fleet combat makes me VERY ANGRY
To deal with your anger, you just need to take regular breaks (and dont play on Sunday
Anyway, good luck whatever you do.
P.S. I have BIOMASS more than one character before and its not the end of the world, but here I am...

Why delete it? You could easily sell it for a couple hundred on eBay heh no that would be against the rules. But anyways I don't care cause I'm having fun with this game and you're action to leave this game has no effect on me. And calling the people who facilitate this game and forums "fascists" will not do anything except vent your anger from realizing you spent a good part of your early life on something you're throwing away in a couple hours.

I left EVE 5 months ago and i haven't done a post i am going! Tho I am back again as i have no life yet again but i am happy :)
Tho i onlywhen trinity came out i was having problem running 3 clasic account. By the way i had all setting to lowest and such and i still keep crashing. SO i couldnt play eve so i was forced back to have a life. Tho life is life kicked me back to EVE again but still same problem. Tho my fixs this time? tuneup memory thingy sorted it out.
all i need now just get bored of it!

I have never liked character trade to begin with, since its quite difficult of advancing to a higher position of the eldest character in EVE if they are never taken out of play when their owner leaves 
ETC trade is OK. I just wish we could get rid of the character trade...

And so much for the "mature" community of EVE. I have to admit, that the above poster is at least partially right.
Ok, you do not need to reply. EVE is harsh universe, and because it is so cold and harsh I have to play an ******* ingame and on the forums.
But maybe it is time for a different approach. Just because I can screw over everybody else with mild to no consequences, does not mean I have to do so.
