[Whine mode on] Currently there eixsts a huge gap between what a large gap between the fun and achievments that a small corp and a large corp can have.
Right now I run a Small Corp (15 friends) and we are getting VERY bored with eve. all we can do is the following.
1. Suck mineralls out of a rock... 2. kill the same newbie pireates with our cruisers, they don't last long and drop the same junk, time after time. 3. Do trade routes and spend most of your time traveling around looking for something to trade. 4. go out into 0.0 space to find toughter pirates and get killed.
What we need is smaller goals than trying to get a 120m to buy a battle ship. most BP are out of our price range as we are working hard mining just to out fit our members in cruisers.
As some of our members have showen, pokeing your nose into a 0.0 sector is instant death.
What we need is moe to do in empire space than kill wimpy pirates, suck rocks, and haul goods for less cash than sucking a rock gets. [/wine mode off]
Now the sugestions:
- Agents in stations that give you small tasks for rewards and slightly higher level loot. These tasks would be no more than 5 jumps away and never leave empire space. the current agent system involves spending hours flying between sectors.
These agent could also spawn encounters in system that are tailormade for you. You talke to then and they ask you to investigate a old ruined titen or something.
Also have these local agents give mining contracts. that if you can provide X minerals of this type in Y hours he will pay you Z isk. this lets us make cash without having to haul our ore alover the place wasteing time to deliver it.
- A small amount of Rare minerals in common ores please. our small corps are starving for rare minersls. if we do manage to build ships we have to pay throught the nose to buy the rare stuff.
Not asking to get rich on this small amount. I am asking for something on the order of 1 ZAL per 100000 minerals, and 1 megacyte per 500000 minerals mined. This would let us produce some of the smaller stuff that takes rare minerals like the injectors,...
- Small stations or outposts. let us buils a small station that has a single purpose. ie we build a small refining outpost that alows us to dock 5 ships max at it, has a refining module, Slots for use to install weapons to defent our little outpost and 100000 cargo space on the hanger floor.
These arn't ment to replace a station but to let a small corp set up some small stations in areas that lack station support for mining and other corp activitys. I figer anyone with a battle ship should be able to kill one no prob. I should be a match for a cruiser.
Give it 1-4 high slots, 1-4 mid slots, 1-4 low slots for the instalation of weapons and shields, ecm... and have the guns work like sentry guns. I figure the price should be in the 20-30 mil range.
Also they should be disasemble able so that they can be moved if need be. Ie you have a repackage button that jettisons everything in the hold, slots and launches all ships. then the goods can be loaded piecemeal into haulers. the outpost in its packaged format should be about 5000m3 so a midlevel industryl with hold expanders can move it and deploy it but it is a corp exersive to move the out post.
Types of outposts should be Refinening, manufactering, and a market link for buying and selling.
- Another type of outpost could be the casino, Some in the stations also.
These outpost have a varity of games of chance that you can gambel on and lose or make ISK. Like all casinos the the house makes money, but there is a chance for a player to win it big.
Also give this type of outpost 1 High slot (for a holagraphic display (customizable like character portrate. and 4 low slots. the low slots can have games installed in them and these are the games that you can play. this way not all casinos are the same.
- The ability for the market to sell copies of the common BP, these would be cheaper and not have the ability to be resurched but lets a smaller corp get into producing some of the ships they need.
- A secure way to trade factory and resurch slots. A few friends have been scamed by this.

This Idea deserves a bump!
Sad only that its title is merely Idea , alot of people wont read it on account of that.
As for your station, it seems you basicly want a larger type of industrial ship, an ore processing ship to be precise.
Actually one could create a wide range of such ships:
Ore processor, basicly a ship capable of processing ore, the ship would have a unique skill, at lev 1 you would get low yield (more waste) at lev 4 the ship would operate at the same level as any processing plant and at lev 5 you would get a better return than in a station.
Recearch/production ship, same principle as above with the exeption that higher skill would reduce the upkeep cost (yes you would get bills just as for a normal factory/recearch slot)
Trade market vessel, basicly you would have a ship with an onboard market, at lev 1-2 you can only access the local starsystem market, at 3 the constalation, 4 the regeon and 5 the constalations closest to the regeon.
Repair ship, alowes refitting and repair of ships
Possibly even warp gate ships...
well you get the idea, all would have a few things in common, none would be capable of docking with stations wich meens a corp that ownes one has to keep it safe from marauders, well I say uncapable of docking, naturaly they can dock but they will dock externaly.
They would all be very slow, say warp .5 au max and have a pathetic max speed out of warp.
Im sure there are more fun oddities one could make for them, the important thing would be they would take up a size slot between cruiser and battleships alowing for more diversity in the game.

Nice ideas Sarf.
Small single use stations are an excellent idea. Hopefully *crosses fingers* this is the sort of idea that CCP take notice off. Perhaps it's something they'll consider in the future if it fits in with their idea of balancing. Quite what balancing means when everyone's on an equal footing I don't know. Maybe that's a subject for another thread.
I have noticed a lack of role-playing (I'm sure I mention this in every other message I post). Perhaps you could give that a try to relieve the boredem. Find a similar sized corp and interact with them. The possibilities in Eve could lead to any number of scenarios; an excellent profitable partnership, a difference of opinions, two paranoid corps even a war.
If that doesn't appeal to you why not raid another empire once in a while. If organised well you could do some lightning attacks on noobs from another faction.
Of course I've tried none of this myself but It's the way I'd like to direct my corp as a long term goal. Try and become a "player" in the Eve galaxy. Look at the boring mining and the not-so-boring low sec mining in the long term.
The game is well worth sticking with. Like I said at the top of the post I'm sure CCP are the type of company that are going to listen to the Eve community. There pre-occupied at the moment because the game's in it's infancy but when it starts to "run itself" I think things will take off. ----------------------------------------- Don't jump off the roof dad. I like this idea.
Basicly we need a small type of a Space Station, something like an Outpost.

Nice idea, though...
How long has this game been online? 5, 6 weeks now? I really must say that this is NOT cs where you can have all the fun and heavy equipment after a few runs. What if all players started with a few battleships, already fitted with the most effective weapons etc. Where would the fun be then. I'd like to "compare" this typ of gameplay with Diablo II. If you play the game clean it will take you more then two years to fulfill all your dreams in equipment and knowledge in the game. Armageddon night was fun, but i'll be more satisfied when i accived that all by myself. As i am in Diablo.
Lets make this clear. Im talking about the general wining, good ideas like this one are rare.

isn't this what the titan will be for when it gets out? dockable, station-services, 250,000 in cargohold, mobile..
I've heard this idea of processing-ships before... though...
but it was in referrence to a unit you'd install in an industrial. to process ore and the like.
*tries to remember wherefrom... fails*
oh well. karma.

Karma that is my whole point.
A corp of 15 friends will never be able to build a Titan, you are thinking in terms of large corps.
A corp of 15 needs goles to work for, and a battle ship will repersent months of effort for a small corp. and even then are they going to risk it. No it is to big of a capital investment.
What we need is a set of stations that are targeted to the small corp. A large corp of 50+ people would not find a small out post usefull as they would have the manpower to beable to field 10 cruisers mining a battle ship for guarding and 5 or so indy ships to eat a entire belt of ore.
We spend about a week of working together and we can get the resources to supplie a single member with a new cruiser. We have got most of our corp into cruisers now and we hit a border 0.0 sector last night. Got a couple of nice drops from the pirates, mined 1200 gniess and lost a cruiser.
Net profit: - 1 week mining.
I think there can be a niche place for the small corps in EVE, wether it is a mineral suppliers. Ship producers... we will never compete with a mega corp. we can only hope to ever own a BS. a Titan is something someone would have to give us. Building a station, Not going to happen, and that is the reality of eve for small corps.

Another Type of outpost could be the Repair out post. If requires minerals to be present and used to make repairs but cost no ISK to do the repairs. This could be usefull to set up prior to a assult on some area. Offers a semi-mobile repair station.
Someone mentioned above that i was asking for mobile stations. No I am looking for Imobile outpost that can be dismantled to made mobile. the assembly and disasembly could take time as to mke this not a mombile station.
I am also looking for something that is equivlent to a cruiser in combat, but Imobile while assembled.

Sarf i like the idea very mutch, but only maby max 1 outpost with different services per player. As i read here on the forum the game is new there are lots of new stuff thats coming our way in the near future hope your idea is one of them:)

I love the idea of small stations like this but how about making it were you can upgrade the one station to add on more and not have a differnt station for each thing. Kinda like your char Upgrade to better things and it takes time the more you want the longer it takes.

Well i was figuring outposts that wher non upgradable fit with the current construction system of eve. I also wanted them to be able to be dismantled for transport. The level of the complexity of the code for a station that can be upgraded goes up greatly. It also means that upgradeing a station becomes alot more components to haul when moving it. not a bad thing just more work for the DEVS and i figure they have lots already. :)
I like the idea of the inflatable hab in the middle of nowehre where a meeting can occure. the small platfor that is towed into place for mineing a belt and then disasembled for warping to another place.
I also was pictering a outpost would be for the use of the corp that built it only. As it would deny access to any that tryed to dock.
Or maybe it should be that there is one hanger in a outpost and that anything that is left on the hanger is accessable to all who dock. Can you say sneak thief.
Of course the station would record who docked and left or picked up what.
I wonder if any Dev's have been following this.

I hope they have, it's a great idea.
You could allow other people to dock and use the services for a fee, but your own corp use it for free. That way you could negotiate rates with other corps who also would rather refine than truck back and forwards.
Keep thinking like this.. it will benefit us all :)

I got a suggestion to go along with this. Since its for a corp why not make the corp work together more to move it? Instead of tearing it down to move it why not make a new equipment type, Tow Cables (or something similar). Say depending on size of the outpost it takes anywere from 3-5 cruisers with tow cables attached and tow it from system to system. Would look a bit more realistic abd at same time it (and any defences it has) would mostly stay operational.
Just a thought :)

When i originally though of this i was thinking 3-5 2000m3 modules that could then be reasembled. When you got on site you would jetison module A and then open it and drag B,C-E into it and it would begin assembly. then thought this would take a ton of special codeing to make work. That is why i preposed a single 5000m3 package to be deployed.
The towing idea I like also TOWing also but again this would me that you would all have to jump together to be able to warp to the gate to tow it through, but there has been talk about a towing capability. So it might be fesible.

I think I would agree that there is a bit of a mid-range goal gap.
Though perhaps you need to find your own solution.
