I have been told that research agents offer missions to inrease you RP earned . Is this true ?
And yes, I can use this agent I have RP with him already .

Any agent that you have hired to collect RPs for you will give you missions every 23 hours or so if you still have the standings to talk to him and buy datacores from him. These missions are either 1m3 courier 0-3 jumps or a Trade mission of x amount of Tritanium (300 on level 1, 900 on level 2, 2700 on level 3 and 8100 on level 4 agents)
Extremely easy missions, all you need is a small stockpile of Trit at the agents station and a shuttle to visit him.

You get those missions when you get an evemail from them asking for help. Just go see the agent after that and you'll have a new selection when you talk to them.

Not happening to me I have been ''employing this agent for 4 days and I only get the option to Buy cores from him or move my research elsewhere .
Bug or am I just not doing some thing ?

From the time you first hire him its a few days, until you get a mail.

Keep in mind it simply doubles your RP per day for the day you do the mission, for many that isn't worth even the 'easy' missions at least if you have to go any distance to visit them.

Yes but research missions count toward the frequency of faction missions which can be valuable.
