Suicide Gankings Needs to be fixed since its getting to the point where there isn't fun in the game and making EVE suck. This also means people quitting EVE!!!
To solve that problem is this:
1. If players suicide in empire.. concord will remove the insurance on their ships for causing a crime. 2. Penalty on security status double faster into negatives. 3. Add Jamming sentry's (2-3 depends on security) only on stations and Security Sentry's (2-3) only on gates. 4. Lessen the time for concord to arrive only on gates and stations by half the original time.

Suicide ganking is a intended game feature. The only issue is that insurance payout reduces the loss of the aggressors to a point where profitable targets are too common.
Reducing/removing the insurance payout when you get targeted by CONCORD is the way to go.
Your other ideas are overzealous. -------- Ideas for: Mining Clouds

Another thread on the subject! Woo!
I still agree though, insurance companies exist to make money, and I rather doubt that the EVE insurance companies could ever turn a profit.
But when you talk about people and insurance, everyone pops in with "oh, but removing insurance hurts PVP!"
Still, the LEVEL of suicide gank profitability seems a bit high, sure, 1 bill of BPOs should be worth it, but a single miners modules and some ore/ice don't seem worth it, but apparently is affordable.

Edited by: Amior on 09/04/2008 16:36:21 Everything in EVE has a risk... Also suicide ganks isn't really PVP. But anyways by removing the insurance is a risk to take. But ya my other ideas might seem "overzealous" but still... Stations and Gates should be the only secured areas. I don't see why concord wouldn't be there faster.. or increase its security based on the systems security level.

1. I'm "hmm meh" on teh idea here. 2. No 3. No, concord does that pretty darn fast like already. 4. No, concord does not prevent high sec combat concord punishes high sec combat (when not at war or flagged otherwise)
Suicide gankings have been around since before you were playing EVE.
In the beginning there was not even a Concord, the only punishment was the sec status hit. If someone wants to destroy your ship in high sec they can do so at the risk of their ship.
On another note, CCp might want to look at the exploitation of the sec status increase mechanic that a lot of pirate-bears use to grind their status up. Although i would argue for more fun ways to achieve the same result. right now it might be a bit too easy to keep it up. Well at least some pirates are proud on their -10 status (always nice to see those flashy people :D )

I've play EVE since the start but came back in 2005 just an FYI since your from 2005 also. But who gives a crap about the past.. Theres more exploits and ways to cheat in the game since CCP been developing it. But anywho if you losted a 4bil CNR against 10-15 BSs that are warp scrambling you.. your instantly dead... Concord needs to be quicker! Its possible to even kill freighter with 10-15 Battleships... Thats why on gates and stations concords needs to be quicker... anywhere else even @ a mission spot, SS, belts, or whatever I don't care... concord can take their time since they do not patrol those sections. If I keep losing a 4bil CNR over and over... then WTF is the purpose of playing EVE? When I simply warping to 1 gate to the other.. Then BOOM!.. Specially when EVE lags and CCP will never ever gonna fix it.
So is this game worth playing now? No its not.. Do I want to quit EVE with 2 of my accounts? Yes I do..
I know the next post be like then why are you wasting your time making this post, eh? Simple answer... Cause my friends have the same problem! I'm sick of wasting my and seeing my friends hours to months on items that we can lose due to stupid lag in empire from suicide ganks.
I can promise CCP that there will be more than over 30-50++ accounts who are gonna stop playing cause of this stupid suicide ganks.
So anymore post wanna talk BS... dont cause u'll be wasting my time... simply say you like it or not.
Thank you!

Actually i was in BETA and have been playing retail since 2004, just not on this character. but hey yay for using game years as experience (like there is no such thing as character sales).
Like i said, suicide ganking has been around since before _anyone_ (see what i did there?) started playing the game, as it has been a part of it since conception.
I agree it sucks to lose something worth that much, but then gain if you can lose those ships multiple times and still ain't out of isk ....
The purpose of playing EVE is and always should be to have fun, there are plenty of people who have fun and some who do not. Usually the latter will find something else to do. This is the way mmorpg's generally work.
I myself have not ever been suicide ganked because i know how to lower the risks of being spotted as a potential target. For example i am using the 2nd best agent in stead of hanging out at the lvl 4 gankfest lagridden systems. Makes for less lag and less nubbins trying to steal your faction mods.
Also, building a 4 billion faction/officer fit ship in said systems is like painting a huge target on yourself. Ever since the lovely locals came flying around on suicide missions looking for my Machariel i have reverted to normal t2 mods. Yes this all makes you have less income OHNOES!!!
But i come out 4 billion better at the end of the week i guess.
And i guess the whole point of a forum is to post single word posts like "yay, nay" and discussion is to be banned, if i want to reply i reply if you can't liv with that good luck :)

Listen to the guy above me, hes making a lot of sense.
I'm a suicide ganker and you have no divine right to safety, the quickest and simplest method is use a scout, if you only have one acc think about missions in higher sec or join like minded players and run the missions in groups, less isk per mission but more missions can be run.
Laziness on your part does not afford you blanket protection, as for losing the insurance I could live with that.
As harsh as it sounds eve was never meant to be a safe cuddly universe, it is infact meant to be quite the opposite, thats its appeal risk vs reward and losses that hurt.

How about this: you stop flying shuttles when delivering 500mil PBO and components.
Lets face it, if you fly a well setup BS there is no way you will be targeted.

I'm very satisfied with a possibility of a hi-sec gank. Every pilot hauling tons of expensive gear through empire have to do it properly. If you cannot do this by yourself, pay others to do it for you. "if you losted a 4bil CNR against 10-15 BSs that are warp scrambling you" , very well done, those 10-15 pilots playing a MMORPG and this single pilot just isn't. 4bi omg, do you really need 4b to finish a lvl4 mission ?
About two months ago one of our industrials got suicide ganked. We lost about 1.5bio in assets.

Suicide ganking costs money and sec status.
If your ship/mods/cargo minus those costs equal profit, you're dead.
So either raise their costs, by fitting better defenses or lower your value.
That aside, ship prices have been very low this past year, making suicide ganking unusually cheap.

Lol i ran with 2bil of bpos in a shuttle once.. :P never lost it...
But ya i understand that i should use just plain T2s... and I know a 4bil raven is a bit much... but it gets the job done faster and easier. SImply CCP needs to fix something... for me I spent all my months earnings to get my 1st CNR. Now since my friends CNRs are being targeted... I stop doing missions. Now my accounts are actually not being used...
Also if you want my stuff.. come and find me :P

simple remove insurance.
it won't stop suicide ganks.
it will just make the people whining have nothing to whine about.

Im guessing your a carebear. IMO, if you get suicide ganked in empire its your own damn fault for autopiloting AFK with expensive stuff in your hold. Maybe autopilot should be nerfed, then you wouldn't get killed for being stupid.

lets just get rid of the autopilot feature. In principle it is just as bad as using a macro to mine, as its a feature that allows carebears to make isk while AFK (traveling to buy/sell). Suicide gankers are the natural counter to this. If you don't like it, don't autopilot.

I absolutely love the ratio of Pirates to Victims in these forums.
If someone complains about a favored Pirate tactic, they're a "carebear" who needs to suck it up and let them have their fun and your loot.
But listen to the Pirates whine and ***** about getting ganked by 8 Titans at once, and they cry just like a rookie. "Boo hoo... they had more firepower than me! Mommy (CCP) make them play fair! I want to kill them more than they kill me!"
Sounds like a double standard to me. Pirates can cry, when the world doesn't work in their favor. But anyone suggests a counter to their entertainment...

I actually love how you completely miss the whole problem with titans.
To the OP, there's nothing that needs to be "fixed" when it comes to suicide ganking. They bring 10-15 ships (which all die) to pop a freighter, why hasn't the freighter pilot got 10-15 friends in gang to help him if the cargo's worth so much. Anyone hauling anything valuable without support takes a risk of losing it. That's why there's these fancy things called "corps" and "alliances" Now if someone were able to suicide a freighter solo, THEN you would have my support.
And there in lies the wonderful flaw in Marcus's comparison. It doesn't matter how many you bring to a fight involving that many titans, no fleet is going to survive that many doomsdays. But I'm guessing you already know that. ----------------- Think of someone you consider of average intelligence... now realise this. Half the worlds population is dumber than that person. How does the world survive such stupidity? |

Edited by: Marcus Gideon on 14/05/2008 02:25:19 Not to stray from the thread topic, but Titans seemed to be the subject of the week. So I used them as an example.
I understand that no one can survive so many Doomsdays. That's the point of bringing 8 of them, to kill everything in sight at least twice over.
But so many people posted how Titans were ruining the game, and they needed to be fixed/nerfed/removed. And the threads kept going on for pages.
But someone brings up an anti-Pirate topic of any kind. Be it suicide ganking, or Jet Can trapping, or any number of cures to the favorite hobbies of these sociopaths of Eve, and they're labeled a wimpy carebear for complaining. They're told to suck it up and deal with it.
This explains how things get so far out of hand. Everyone's forgotten why people strive to screw each other over. That's just how it's been done, and that's how it will continue to be.
