The devs have been in lock-step with the "carebear camp" ever since this damn game was released almost a year ago. Sentry guns, uber CONCORD, highway gates . . . it all goes to the same thing; the goal of carebears is to make the game safe, easy, no risk, whatever. And congratulations, you're almost there.
The result is that pvpers have begun to leave the game. Cao
I didn't know that pirate carebears existed
Don't you think you just a little exagerating here? More than half the systems have a 0.0 statut, and each of them is far more rewarding to stay into if you're willing to take risks.
If sentry guns exist, it's because pirating wasn't supposed to take place at gates, where incoming players's clients are still loading the system.
You think that a lot of ppl here dream of mining or hauling for the rest of thier life? In general their goal is to have enough money (and time to train thier skills) to be able to do some serious pvp. I consider empire space just as a huge market/training camp/low-grade money-maker.
I want to do pvp, but I'm not ready yet, so I stay in empire space, and I'm carefull when I mine in 0.1-0.4 systems. If I get caught by a pirate there (it almost happened once), I won't whine, I'll just wait to be a decent pvper before hunting the pirate.
But what is the role of 0.5-1.0 systems? They're the "rookie areas" of the game, and they should be free of pirating. Anyone who stay there will have little chance to be rich enough to be an interesting/challenging prey for a pirate anyway.
I agree, in some extent, that the highways connecting the empires are a little too fast, and that it's killing regional markets. But it also make prices drop for items, and make them alaivable to all at the best price.
But with you being a pirate, I suspect you to have darker motives. As it is now, and as it should be, pirates need to move to suprise their preys, and avoid retribution. If the empires were suddenly separated by 0.0 systems, that wouldn't be the case anymore. You'd see each of the gates of those systems squated by pirates. Then, only groups of pirate hunters could break this blockade, and that would, kill any inter-regional market.
