I think there isnt enough roleplay going on in the game. Ever since I got into it and joined forces with the Empire its been so much fun trying to kill the Minmatar and preaching the holy gospel in local lol.
So to encourage roleplay why doesnt CCP give some special bonuses to the corporations who actively roleplay and make themselves known as having certain political views.
For example; We have an Amarr corp that is known to fight the Minmatar terrorists. So in a game story-line update it says Emperor Doriam Kor-Azor decides to give gifts to those corps that actively help defend the Empire. So the corp would be given a few cruisers and some equipment from the Empire. This way if people affiliated themselves with a government they could recieve benefits every week or so.
On the flip side. If you could ally with a government then people who declared war on supporters of that government would be able to attack ANYONE allied with the government. This would make the game much more immersive in the aspect of fighting for your race. You could have race wars break out (only with the people who decide to ally themselves with a certain government)
Some sort of reward system could be made also. for example. The caldari government affiliated corp scores 12 kills on...3 gallente frigs...8 cruisers...1 battleship. Their government rewards them for the ships killed and they get...2 free cruisers and 10 mil and equipment for their new ships.
I hope you all see where I am going with this and voice your support. Thanks for reading.

It's not a bad idea but a noob who is in a corp allied with a government could be attacked anytime from other players.

To answer the first reply...
If youre a newb then you arent with any real player corp, so you cant yet be affiliated with a government/political view. (wont be a legal target of any of the other corps)
Just think...You gain real good standings with the government, and if youre engaged with someone from the enemy government who has high standings with their respective governments, maybe the sentry guns would help you....a million things could be done to make it more fun.
But for those werent interested, you could be neutral and act as a trader, dealing your stocks of valueable items and minerals between the warzones. Hell, there is so much to be considered, but it would be so freakin cool! Russo - CEO Amarria Auxilia Your friendly neighborhood badass

I think there should be some rewards for PvP/corp wars. Now you just lose time, ships and other assets, and the "only" thing you get is fun, experience and some roleplay :-)
Hooking up player corps with the governments seems a good idea to me. That would make the game world / backstory more believable, as nowadays the real powers don't seem to be the governments in CCP sponsored news, but player alliances in 0.0 space instead. So any changes would seek to align the alliances with governemnts more strongly...
CCP can't just hand out rewards to roleplayers, because that would call cries of favoritism, maybe rightly so.
Your war suggestions are worth considering though...
Another idea would be missions taken by player corps, not individual players. Eg. a Minmatar corp would get a mission of taking over a slave center (a station somewhere in Amarr space), while at the same time Amarr corps would have a mission of protecting the station for a set time. The reward could be something juicy like T2 frigates or maybe even battleships.

This idea really OWNZORZ. as i am Caldari i would love to go and war against the evil Gallenteans. And our whole corp would like it cause that was the basics of XNC. We want ti kill gallentes. Therefore a racial war would be VERY FUN. ------------------------------------------ Reallife.dll is not found.....

in reply to the person who said CCP would be accused of favoritism for rewarding roleplay corps. Well these roleplay corps would always be fighting against other ones, so giving them a few ships probably wouldnt make up for their losses. Also, if there is a rewards system in place for ALL who decide to affiliate their corp with a government, it would be equal to all. So the more kills you score, the more reward you get. Would be plenty of fun. Russo - CEO Amarria Auxilia Your friendly neighborhood badass

Edited by: Garreck on 21/04/2004 08:43:09 This is an outstanding idea, and I'm pretty sure that there has been much discussion in this direction. Something else along these lines would be a dynamic faction system that truly rewards and involves roleplayers for their actions.
Originally by: Kalhystia It's not a bad idea but a noob who is in a corp allied with a government could be attacked anytime from other players.
This is where a dynamic faction standing system would help. As it is now, security status of systems helps to protect new citizens. In a dynamic system, there could be systems where faction npcs are more agressive towards players with low standing. For instance, the "core" amarr system's npcs would be extremely sensitive to any incursion by minmatar players, and the opposite would also hold true. In this system, "newbs" could stay in areas where their faction npcs would protect them.
I find it rediculous that I can take a few of my Blacksheep pilots (Amarr sympathizers,) and roll up into Pator (minmatar home system) and make trouble without the Minmatar npcs so much as blinking.

A "fair" system of "handouts" would obviously have to be established.
But to be perfectly frank, there are a lot of roleplayers who feel that the current system offers "handouts" to power gamers who just run agent missions for hours upon hours while mining scord in high sec space with an alt. Time to give us some love Roleplay is pretty thankless economically.

Going to corp war and scoring kills on PCs with good standings with the wrong factions should change your faction standing, and that of your corp.
Then combine this with the idea that you need good faction standings to get better ships.
This would result in many interesting effects. An interesting and realistic cold war situation could develop. Mining corps would have to declare wars on mining corps of the opposing factions - shots would be fired once in a blue moon, but the war would be necessary to get good enough faction standings to obtain elite industrial ships.

Yes roleplaying merged with PvP consequences is an awsome idea and having acess to "faction" priced ships and modules is like breathing life into the game..they have done this with many games...Ultima online was one of the first to do it with the Order/Chaos wars and then l8r with Factions where u could trade faction points in for rewards liek faction armour/horses etc....
So say i am an Amarian extremist and for every assisted kill i get on a Minmitar terrorist or Gallente freedom fighter i get a certain amount of faction points or isk rewards from the Empreror depnding on the ship i have aided in killing...mroe for batleship then cruiser and frig etc.
I can then trade these faction points or isk rewards to purchase armamnets from a faction NPC trader. Large amounts of faction points can net u special ships like Imperial Apocs or Gold megnates etc etc but only massive amounts of faction points...kind of like SWG where it takes heaps of Faction points to get an AT-ST if your imperial....twaek the system so that ppl cant trade or sell faction based ships and also that u can only have 1 faction ship issued to u at a time etc etc.
With the right amount of thought and testing this could be an awsome idea for the game

You know, I tried this. I thought, "well im Minmatar, so I should hate the Amarr." So then I thought I would not work with them, or any of their corps. But I found that incredibly hard, and no corporations that I could align myself with. If minmatar have this fighting history and such, then shouldnt they have lots of security agents and all stuff required to get a strong military without interacting with Amarr?
I just couldn't seem to get on my feet without mixing with all other races. Didnt fit the story line at all.

Imhotep (offtopic): There is a good bunch of Minmatar-minded PC corps. A select few of them have a pure no-Amarr policy. Read the corp forum or www.minmatar.net for more info. Keep looking, you will find your path!
